Blackwell's little distortions

Some might say they're more than distortions, fibs or maybe even worse, or perhaps he really believes the things he says which are untrue.

He seems to do it most weeks. Today's hard luck story bemoans the fact we've had to use 5 'keepers this season. They are:-

Bunn
Bennett
Ikeme
Simonsen
er.... that's it

Five? Four? What's the difference? It hardly matters anyway, the last two have only played a couple of games each, hardly a massive disruption. Does he think we're too stupid to notice when he massages the truth? Or is it to deflect attention form his own evident shortcomings?

Anybody else have any examples of Kev's porkies?

At the end of the day though he didn't produce a promotion winning team.

So what do we do now to make sure it happens next year regardless of the problems?

From all reports Simonsen has done very well,why would anyone think that a keeper after a season off will ever be the same!
Kenny will not turn this clubs fortunes around.

Third thing...start afresh, new manager, new young hungry players and therefore new hope

In an interview after the game Blackie confirmed that Simonsen will go back after the pigs game and Kenny will be used for the last 2 games of the season, so by the end we wil have used 5 keepers, so I guess that's what he's on about, so not really stretching the truth.

Blackwell always over exagerates the impact injuries will have on any player. On a Wednesday Williamson, Henderson and Ward will be out for the season then either play or on the bench on Saturday.
After three or four times people stop believing the crap Blackwell spouts and generally form their own opinion.!

Scunny are in the postion they are in for a reason,injury excuses can only go so far.
Scunny playing away against a promotion hopeful at a place that they had never won at did so and gosh they had two players Mirfin and McCann leave the match due to injuries to boot.

Numbers/dates therefore aren't neccessarily well though out, more mentioned off the cuff in an interview. More recently, people have disected these in detail looking for him to slip up and give them ammo to use against him.

In terms of the 5, I'd imagine SE1Blade has got it spot on, he's talking about Kenny too.

I think you are overthinking it, he just has other things to think about than making sure his after-match answers to Seth & Co are highly accurate.

Blackwell Out. Huge nail in his coffin today. Sad to see aint it Foxy? You have to see the benefit of getting rid. Any new manager would be a gamble to some extent but they have to try somebody.

I think Kevin's under-thinking things and spurts out figures as excuses for bad performances.

Kevin also said tonight we had used 23 loans this season.

Both total bollocks and it's this stuff as much anything, the taking us for fools, that gets my goat up as much as anything.

No, because this assumes we only need 1 goal to win a game, which isn't really the case with our defence

True enough

To be pedantic though, a goal is enough to win a game and we had more than enough chances to score a single goal.

I've rated Simonsen for a while now, always seems to have done well when needed at Stoke, he's made some good saves for us and can't be blamed for any of the goals he's conceded. Also, he throws the ball out to his defence instead of just booting it up field!

How you define a chance is of course somewhat subjective, but I've seen figures of 20-35% chance convertion being described as normal, i.e. on average you need to create three or four chances to score a goal.
