Now I've said a few times that I'm a fence-sitter as far as him being sacked goes. However, sitting where I do, I do get to hear some of his insights... and they hardly endear me to the man.

Don't get me wrong... there are some good things he says- his constant wish to get Cotterill down the line when the player looks a bit scared of the touchline is one thing.

But these are far outweighed by the nasty and unnecessary way he speaks to those around him.

There's THIS example from the Wednesday game last year.

And today during the first half, one of the players was having trouble with their boots so Blackwell shouted at one of the trainers, who sit a couple of rows behind the dug out to fetch some more.

When the trainer didn't quite catch what he said, the way Blackwell spoke to him was bang out of order... treating him like he was an imbecile. He ordered the poor lad up and made him stand in front of him in the dug out while he berated him like a headmaster would an errant school boy... in front of all the staff and all us fans who could hear. All because a player's boots were rubbing. It wasn't the trainers fault at all yet he was effed and blinded at.

His manner with people is disgusting and unprofessional and every time I see or hear him do something like that, I lose all the more sympathy for him. I understand that he's under pressure, but there is no need to take it out on the staff or the fans around you because one day, it's all going to come back on you.

Just needed a rant :)

And that is why people do not want to play / sign / work with him. Hear it week in week out from people.

I know you 'just needed a rant' but Linz this is so why this man will only take our club backwards. He's a 'won nowt' never been and a bully to go with it.

Christ Linz, I don't mind people having a go at the way he manages the team, but surely his way of managing people is his own thing.

Surely he has a team around him that are paid very well to do their jobs on a match day, I think Blackie has enough problems at the moment without players/ staff whinging about rubbing boots.

If the man's failing, let his failings show for the displays on the pitch not the way he manages the staff in the 90 mins.

I thought his anorak looked shite, no wonder players don't want to stay

the decision to leave left back jordan stewart on the right wing till the 70th minute was the mark of a true genius. espeically when we had 3 other wingers on the bench!

True.

Could of even brought Little on to offer that bit quality.

But don't you think dragging a member of staff up to the dug out to have a go at them in front of everyone is a little harsh? It certainly didn't display a professional attitude of togetherness to the fans, which is what you hear in the propaganda coming out of the club.

Blackwell's actions undermine his messages and make him appear a very vindictive person... and he obviously isn't bothered who sees it... so I feel entitled to comment.

And I'll back up that the way he 'picks on' - a players words not mine - the weaker individuals and the members of staff he feels 'higher than' is making the club a depressing place to be. But if it's his coat Swiss then lets have him out just for that eh - I'm ok with that ;)

Well when I was sat behind the dugout this season against Port Vale Blacky did absolutely naff all and let speed scream and shout.

He cant handle the pressure and its time for him to go.

I've said it before Linz, I don't analyse his every move or comment in the media.

I agree that when you push it in peoples faces by saying "look at him now" then it shows him up, but if things were going well then i'm sure these things wouldn't get a mention

I think Blackwells man management skills leave a lot to be desired and I certainly couldn't work for that type of boss. However I do know people who thrive under having a boss they can't stand.

I'm more concerned that a professional footballer can get as far as sitting on the bench and then realize his boots hurt him. The majority on here have never played pro football but we are bright enough to get the right boots sorted.

It was a player on the pitch... even more worringly. A player who, when the boots were brought up, couldn't be arsed to change them.

I'm not particularly au fait with the way the dressing room works, but I assume the players request which boots they want before they play? So the player picked the wrong boots.

Did he pick someone elses boots? :D

It'd explain a lot.

I think they must chuck 'em all in the middle of the dressing room and pick whichever pair they find first.

Perhaps Bennett ended up with the shooting boots :D

Surely it's the same thing. If he abuses a member of staff in full glare of the public then how is he treating the players?

There are too many players underperforming for him for it to be a coincidence in my eyes.

I used to have a lot of time for Blackwell, but his radio rantings, and his apparent lack of man management skills that have upset a few players, making them lose confidence in themselves (Sharp, Cotts to name but 2), have changed my mind.
It's a shame, but he comes accross as a bully, even worse when cornered (ask Paul Walker!). I think that a lot of our current plight is down to Blackwell, his attitude and a lack of respect for him by the playing staff.

Doesn't work for our lot does it... and before you say who says they don't like him, get your blinkers off.

The way he treats/speaks to his staff could show something about his man management skills. Not saying these two particular examples do (after all they are only two examples over a fair stretch of time), but if by chance they are a fair representation of how he approaches people (particularly when under pressure) it's no wonder we're heading for the relegation trap door.

Every manager has bust-ups with players, I think we forget sometimes what it must be like 'looking after' 20 plus egotistical footballers with all their 'problems'. What's annoying about Cotts is that he HAS got the best out of him in the past and promptly chased him all Summer to sign him. How did things seemingly change so much in such a short space of time ?

Recently I was walking in the park. It was a very blustery day, and to protect my hair from the elements, I'd decided to wear my new cap.

My new cap was a lovely piece of millinery; I'd paid a pretty penny for it and I thought it looked resplendent atop my head.

Anyway, one particularly strong gust of wind caught my cap under the peak and lifted it right off my head. I chased after it, but as zephyr after scirocco caught it, I was left grabbing at thin air whilst my cap floated and danced on the breeze.

It probably flew for about thirty yards before the wind died down and it landed gently on the grass. "Here's my chance," I thought, and chased after it before the wind had chance to grab it again.

Well, before I got to it, a large, slobbery dog had high-tailed it over there and starting eating my beautiful cap. I was distraught! This was the first time I'd worn it, and it was being consumed by a hungry hound. Happy, I was not. I shouted at the dog to leave it alone, but to no avail.

By and by, the dog's owner came along. "Look here - stop shouting at my dog!" he said, and I was quite surprised to see that the owner was none other than Kevin Blackwell, manager of Sheffield United FC.

"You should keep better control of that mutt," I replied. "Looks what it's done to my cap!"

"Not my problem Chief," he responded. "You shouldn't have been wearing it on a day like this. What are you, an idiot or something? Anyone could see that wearing a cap in a gale was going to end in disaster."

"Now look here," I shouted. "I don't like your attitude!"

"It's not my 'at he chewed, Guv, it's yours..." came the reply.

Googled:

I love how elaborate the set up is for such a poor pun :D
