Just found a programme that Mrs got me a while back from the day I was born.

29.10.86 Oxford away in the Littlewoods Challenge Cup, guess they would have been holders that season too? either way lost 3-1.

Here it is

Anyone else

1. Blessed to be born on a game day?
2. Where was your old man at the time of birth?
3. Has your Mrs retrospectively bought you a programme from said game, back when you still liked each other? ( I Jest)

England beat Italy 2-0 at Wembley with both goals from Kevin Keegan on the day that I was born.

My old man was 28, and was out on strike with the Fire Brigade and they had to collect him from the picket line at Division Street fire station after my Mum went in to labour.

No,

No,
Actually, Keegan and Brooking scored :-). I remember watching it aged 11.

Failure to win by more than 2 meant England had almost certainly failed to qualify for the World Cup as Italy needed Only a one goal win at home to Luxembourg to qualify. They won 3-0.

Hmm, the nearest match to my birth was a 7-2 home defeat by Rotherham. United haven’t really changed much in my lifetime, mainly piss poor with a few highs in between. Still not seen us win anything of significance. 🙄
Still love them though.

I always thought it was Keegan who scored both.

My birthday always falls on international break so the Blades have only played a handful of times on my birthday

1985 - 3-3 draw with Blackburn and a Steve Wigley wonder goal

1991 - My birthday was on the Saturday and they moved the match to the Sunday and stopped me from having the bestest birthday present of beating the gruntlets 2-0

1996 A boring 0-0 at Port Vale

2013 An even crappier 2-1 home defeat to Gillingham

Bryan Robson's debut for England.
That was v Ireland in 1980. There were debuts for Barnes, Coppell and Latchford, thougg

You've got the same birthday as my dad :-)

The 85 game was also notable for Burridge losing John Loweys 40 yard punt to give Blackburn their 3-3 equaliser.

A birthday present I received from my wife some years ago was a Bramall Lane, victorian road sign, she bought it from an antique dealer on abbeydale road, the problem for her was she had to get on a bus to Sheffield a bus to Abbeydale road with two young kids in tow and, it obviously weighed a ton!
It sits on a wall in our kitchen abd is a great conversation piece.
