I sent him a quick tweet reply earlier.

My mum and Dad were in Spain last summer, so they popped to La Manga and met the team. Dad talked to Wilder and he called me after to say what a man he was, taking time out to talk and ask about my Dad. But mum had her photo with Billy. Every goal Billy has scored this season she's sent that pic on the whatsapp groupchat we've got between the family.

After this season and being initially sceptical of giving a striker the armband, despite it being Billy, he's taken it on to an ambassadorial level. But in true Sheffield style, he's given it a bit of something else. For me, being held aloft at Northampton, the open top bus, the jumping off the Coach from Northampton at the lane and making a speech, the Port Vale post match on the pitch and the Orchestrating of Jack O'Connell to head the brick right up to lifting the trophy and not wanting to let it go after Chesterfield has really connected him and the team with the fans.

I don't think any other captain has done the same.

Its been the best season of my 39 years, so much of it down to Billy and of course Wilder.

Thank you Billy.

I was sceptical at the start of the season of giving Billy the captaincy. One reason being he's a striker and secondly I didn't want it to be given just because he's a blade. How wrong I was.

Born in 93, he's been the best ever captain, working under the best ever manager I've seen us have. In fact, although I'm obviously biased I literally cannot think of another club that has had fans as captain and manager that have achieved what we have done this season. Quite simply the best season ever. It's blitz'd the 2006 promotion to the premier league. I cannot wait to see how far they can take us.
