Fulham prepare summer bid for Sheffield United forward
By Ryan Ingham ⋅ May 26, 2015 ⋅ Post a comment
Sky Bet Championship outfit Fulham are interested in a move for Sheffield United forward Jamie Murphy, according to FLW sources. Murphy has only just signed a contract extension in January but could be set for a move down south, and FLW understands Fulham are keen to bring in the Sheffield United forward on a permanent basis.

Hope so
another one who could motivate himself for the cups but not for humdrum league games

oh well 2 good league games out of a season
thats really thrown my inconsistent jibes on the bonfire
Feel silly now

No no quite right There was also that early cup game May have been Colchester? Where he took on about 6 players in the last minute.
47 shots on target if only some of them where in League games!

Course. He won player of the year with 2 good league games only.

I think that's a bit harsh Judge. I've often seen him run and run and run at defenders, win a corner or something and be geeing the crowd up. I see what you mean in so far as he's not as up for it as last season maybe, but it must be frustrating when you're just quite a bit better than most of our players.

His performance in the cup away leg at Notts County wasn't too bad either...

Judge has a point (what am I saying). Murphey had a huge drop in form especially towards the end of the season. However, when he turns it on he is pure quality. Think his drop in form could have been down to tactics and swapping him around left right and centre (literally)

He has games where he is non-existant and he's a bit of a wuss, but can be devastating in this league. Wingers are always inconsistent.

We'd be a much worse team without him and he'd be a hard man to replace, not just for his ability because he has a good understanding with Harris too.

It's not Fulham we need to be worried about, there are other suitors primed depending on situation.

As Murphy has shown, he's got the quality and strength of mind to rise above any self-doubts he may possess. Maybe he's one of those players who needs a boost to his confidence, a few carefully chosen words, and the knowledge that those around him believe in his capability to deliver.

Interestingly, Fulham signed McCormack from Leeds for £11 million. Admittedly Leeds were in the Championship, but should Fulham, or anyone else, come calling then Murphy's valuation should reflect the quality he's shown against teams from higher divisions. I'm not resigning myself to losing Murphy, but should it prove a good move for the club with any fee reinvested in the Blades, then it might just be one of those inevitable slices of life that most teams have to come to terms with. I see that Fulham are also on the verge of signing Blackburn's Gestede for a reported £5 million. So they're clearly flush with money and we shouldn't buckle at the knee just because they flash their chequebook.

I can't believe some people are criticising our obvious player of the season. He was clearly tired the last month or so.
He was fucked along with many others in the last couple of months due to Cloughs training regimes. In the football world they were calling us Sheffield Harriers due to all the running we did.

Maybe it was because of all the cup games we tried hard in

See what you did there:) and yes we did try hard in those games but Murphy was still our best player throughout the season mate.

Im not saying hes shit but if a bid came in for him of over a million i would say take it and buy someone consistent who doesnt hide up his own arse when tge going gets tough

As for him being our best player i think that says more about the current attributes of the squad that struggled to make any impact in a league where any well organised well drilled fit and enthusiastic team would have been promoted by xmas

I'm not far off agreeing with this post judge, just a couple of things though, (i) i would certainly want more than a million for him and (ii) he was getting doubled upon in quite a lot of these games where he was supposedly going missing, i'm not disputing that he wasn't in these games but what should have happened is Clough should have realised this and tried to expoit the other areas of the pitch where there must have been space because he took 2 players out of the game.

Your second paragraph i can't really debate because although i think xmas might be stretching it a bit, i do get the point and it propably wouldn't have been too far after if any side had the aspects of the game you state.

I can't believe we would ever sell our best player when he is under contract. That simply will not happen.

No ...... I agree ! We would never sell our best player whilst he's still under contract ........ unless somebody offers ten bob, a bag of out of date crisps, a couple of shiny buttons and a promise of a friendly match could just swing it maybe ??! o_O
