Best SUFC Players since 1980 - Centre Backs

1980 because that's when I started going regularly and you've got to draw the line somewhere.
I've not included loan players or those that only played a handful of games...

I went for Stancliffe, mostly out of sentimentality again. When I first started going to games I played centre half for my school and a local side and my dad said that if I wanted to improve I should watch the player who played in my position so for the first 18 months I was watching United I was staring at Stan mostly. Shame the top flight came when he was past it.

Murphy was actually quite shit when we first signed him and Gayle lost points for every own goal he scored giving him a total of -674.

Gone for Gayle. A bit of a one dimensional player, but he really solidified that team in 1991. Organised and tough. A lot of people remember him for handing L**ds the title, but the rest of that season and 92/93 he was solid.

Similar can be said of a lot of those players, Morgan, Stancliffe, Murphy, Page, liked all of them. But Gayle did it at the higher level.
