United could once again have a Beattie leading the forward line in Saturday's Championship encounter against Plymouth.
No, it's not old boy James... the Blades have signed West Brom striker Craig Beattie on loan until the end of the season and he goes straight into Kevin Blackwell's plans for the fixture at Home Park.
"Craig is a Scottish international and a player with a proven track record at this level. He gives us much needed re-enforcements for the run-in," said boss Blackwell.
Last year Beattie, 25, spent loan spells with both Preston and Crystal Palace, scoring five times for the latter earlier in this campaign.
Beattie began his career with Celtic, making 50 league appearances for the SPL giants before switching to West Brom in July 2007 for a deal in excess of £1m.
Since West Brom's promotion to the Premiership he has seen his chances limited but he did score in the 2-0 victory over Tottenham just after Christmas. His last appearance for the Baggies was in the 3-0 success over Middlesbrough last month.
He met his new team-mates on Friday morning, joining in with training before setting off for Devon.
I'm concerned about this, I thought Monday was earliest we could sign someone so that the loan period would last till play off final.
93 days chick, you do the maths
Don't forget that Feb only has 28 days too.....
Perhaps he'll be registered tomorrow morning instead of today? Or maybe we will upset Fatty Sam and not register him at all![]()

Still adds up to 95 days for me?
February - 9 days
March - 31 days
April - 30 days
Play-off final, 25th May - 25 days
Bit of a shame for those with "Beattie, 9" shirts that we signed Lupoli first!![]()
Injury prone, he has recurring hamstring problems that blighted his career at Celtic and when on loan to Preston.
