Seems like a positive move but will it work?:-

"The Club is trialling a new system that involves specially designated stewards, as well as other measures, to ease ticket office queues in the build-up to kick-off on match days.

From this Saturday's Bury game, four stewards wearing easily identifiable bibs will be earmarked to help fans buying or collecting match day tickets as well as those who have queries with their season ticket cards.

Sheffield United Operations Director Dave McCarthy said: "We are trialling a new system which will help reduce queues outside the ticket office on match days. We want to make sure fans get more match for their money and not miss any of the opening minutes.

"There will be four specially designated stewards to help the fans and make sure they are in the correct queue. We are confident it will make a difference, shorten queues and get fans served and into the ground sooner."

The Club will have stewards asking any fans joining the back of the ticket queue outside the South Stand ticket office why they are queuing and then direct those fans to the correct location.

- Fans wanting only tickets for that day's game will stay in the main ticket office queue.

- Fans collecting tickets that they have pre-ordered will be directed to a gazebo, situated between the Platinum Suite entrance and Legends of the Lane Museum, which will be for ticket collections only. The steward outside current Ticket Collections window will also guide people to the new collection point.

- Blades fans wanting to make ticket purchases for Blades away matches will be directed to what is the current 'ticket collection point' outside the Promotions office (it will have new branding). This facility will take cash or cards and be for away ticket purchases only.

- Fans with a ticket problem (such as a problem gaining access with their season ticket card) will be directed to a steward who will be overseeing the first ticketing desk in the ticket office.

Fans are reminded that the quickest and cheapest way to secure their seat is always to book in advance where possible. There is a discounted price for all tickets purchased in advance of the match day and supporters can book online at www.sufc.talent-sport.co.uk in person or over the telephone on the new local rate telephone number 0114 253 7200.

Fans buying before 4pm on the Wednesday prior to a Saturday home game or Friday before a Tuesday night game will receive their tickets in the post avoiding any match day queues at the ground.

Another way to save time and money is to become a Member. As well as additional discounts you can book online right up to kick off, activating your Membership card which will automatically enable entry through the turnstiles."

In order to achieve this, perhaps one or two of these stewards should stand in the Cricketers!

Last season there was one bloke who consistently turned up 5-10 minutes late every game, making everyone on our row stand up to let him past, at first it was really annoying and then it just became a joke. I'm sure many of you have experienced the same thing.

It seems to be another helpful step. Is Nigel's positivety affecting the club as a whole these days? We only need the stewards in the ground to stop standing and blocking the exits and we'll nearly be there.

I think this is from the Prince's contingent. Probably Jim. I suspect they've been in 'assess' mode until the start of this season and are now starting to implement some radical ideas not seen at the Lane for some time like signing good players, getting a proper manager and actually treating fans like paying customers.

Don't be silly. We're not customers, we're lambs to the slaughter

I don't know why they need a special gazebo for the ticket collections. Is it because you sometimes have to squeeze through a gap in the queue to get there, and maybe people didn't know where it was? You'd think the new stewards would solve the latter problem. Seems like overkill to me but maybe this will give them more flexibility.

Au contraire. Under Clough, to make sure late-comers didn't miss any action in the first half...there wasn't any!

Like changing the phone system this is another instance of the club listening to reasonable requests from supporters.

This was an issue at Morgs's testimonial, and maybe a couple of other games.

Really well done to them for trying to sort it out.

(Fwiw a personal bugbear of mine is when someone tries something like this and it doesn't work perfectly first time some ridiculously entitled and impossibly miserable bugger starts moaning about how crap it all is. If I could post a link to Louis CK's brilliant "Everything's Amazing and Nobody's Happy" I would.)

Well Done the Mighty Blades.

I don't know why they need a special gazebo for the ticket collections.
It's a system they use at Leicester and it works pretty well and prevents congestion and delays. If the SUFC system is anything like Leicester's, you collect your tickets at the booth based on the surname of the purchaser, hence separate queues for A-F, G-K, etc. and you get your tickets quickly (touchwood).

Hey that's not fair, I missed Fleetwoods first goal last season when I was late coming out of the pub. Luckily I got to see their second, so it all worked out fine.

Thanks for that. There's so much in that clip.

We live in an amazing amazing world and it's wasted on the crappiest generation* of spoiled idiots.

Give it a second.

How quickly the world owes him something he only knew existed ten seconds ago.

You're sitting in a chair in the sky.

Brilliant. I watch it every few months or so.

*Fwiw I don't think it's generational.

There's a group of lads sit just in front of me that turn up 20/30/40 minutes late for virtually every single match.

Perhaps they're the fans who have selflessly volunteered for stewarding duties and spent 20/30/40 minutes helping other fans find their seats?

(or just pissheads who fancied an extra pint?)
