Why the f*** is it that every time he plays an astray pass its met with boos and all sorts of abuse, yes he is frustrating at times, but he is different to what we've got as he see passes no others in the team can, and is capable of a piece of brilliance which can change a game, all getting on his back is gonna do is destroy his confidence. Fans cry out for some creativity but then as soon as it doesn't come off they get on the players back. Save any boos for the end of the game if you have to, not during!

Good win today and better performance, onwards and upwards COYRAWW!!

This is indicative of whats been the biggest debate on this forum the past few days.

I like Baxter, he's creative, can pass between the lines and scores quite regularly. People say he's fat - I think it's just his body shape, like McNulty.

Don't understand why people would abuse him, he does well for us and is probably one of our 4 best players along with Murphy, Done and Brayford.

Keep it up Jose!

Thought baxter worked harder today than I have ever seen him.
He is the guy who can unlock defences in very much the same way that a good singer, I.e. Murphy can so shy not cut him some slack? The bloke behind me us forever on his back whenever something does not come off and we lose possession but never provides a semblance of praise when he does something well, something which on a lot of occassions no other player can do.
A lot of supporters are too impatient, they do not realise how much pressure this puts on the players, today was another example of playing well and then losing confidence and getting rid or passing rather than shooting ala Freeman. The best football we played was the first twenty minutes with no pressure from the fans

I thought he had a very very good game today. He looked anxiously over to the bench after an overexuberant tackle on the halfway line. No card of any colour though.

He will NEVER , EVER be a centre midfield player - NEVER, EVER.

2 minutes before the 1st half ended, he chested a ball down near the centre circle and just blasted it up in the air.

If that is what others think of what a centre midfield player should be, then I am watching the wrong game.

I know some won't agree, can live with that, but until we get some QUALITY that sits in both centre midfield positions (in a 4) then we are going absolutely no where.

Baxter can live in a 5, NEVER in a 4.

He's a quality, quality player, someone that can create something out of nothing.

He really struggles to fit into any of our formations. He needs to up his workrate consistently for me. He's not that good to merit being able to not pull his weight. When he does put a shift in, he looks like one of our best players. It's a rare occurrence though. Top players put effort in every game, regardless of how creative they are. Look at David Silva.

I'm not anti Baxter but I thought that he was poor today. He just hoofed it forward on a number of occasions and was withdrawn after getting caught in possession for the umpteenth time - he was adding nothing and, sitting opposite the dug outs as I do, I could see that this was the prompt for Clough taking him off. He's capable of do much more but is under performing, as is Murphy at the moment.

What about in team that fluctuates between 4_4_1_1 and 4_5_1 as we did today?

I've never seen Baxter work as hard as he did today especially sitting back like he did.

He put some cracking passes in as well.

Did I watch another game - I thought Port Vale dominated the game 2nd half - that is Port Vale, on our own patch of grass. Long ball, hit them occasionally on the break.

OK, so he might have worked hard - we were absolutely shocking in midfield - this should be the heart beat of every team.

We were lucky again on our own patch - lucky that Port Vales forwards were useless or none existent.

No he doesn't and you know he doesn't - just a TROLL post - well done as usual. you are very very clever in your choice of postings - and it's a serious compliment btw.

Doesn't kmac play in that deeper role for wolves? Saw them a few times in league 1 and he played that pirlo quarter back role. If we have the right players around him, baxter could do the same for us. We don't necessarily need Doyle in there but we've seen a few times that when the team isn't setup correctly we're wide open when Doyle isn't in the XI

You watched the same game as I did but we interpreted it in different ways.

We can both agree we won 1-0 ;)

Absolutely - some times the result is more important than the performance - but I will be like a mad dog with this 4-4-2 rubbish.
Don't get me started on Jason Holt - just a scoogal look a like - runs around and does nothing.

Port Vale dominated midfield in the 2nd half - they made us look stupid - perhaps you don't agree?

Thank goodness we have Scunny and Crewe at home next 2 games and Barnsley play Bristol - we need every other team playing for us.

Just hope NC goes back to type in the play offs (which we will make) and goes back to false 9 or 4-5-1.

Agree Jose was decent today but nothing other than playing in the hole with a few energetic players around him really works. The midfield was overrun today but I don't think we really have the personnel to put that stamp on the game. Coutts really needs to step up his game in this respect.

Baxter, Scougall, Holt - we can only really afford one at a time in any realistic formation.

Thought he was good today overall, few needless lumps forward but generally he's the only player who wants to get on the ball and play. Can't understand people wanting to boo him at every opportunity for giving the ball away when he tries something more adventurous, yet also slate Doyle/Coutts/Holt for playing backwards and sideways passes.

Also thought he worked hard today, won the ball back quite a few times. Along with Bash and Davies I thought he was one of the stand outs.

That one-two with Holt just before Freeman's chance was wonderful, completely opened their defence up. Needs movement around him though to fulfill that potential he clearly has.

Agreed. It's nice to have someone with some imagination try something different once in a while.

I thought Baxter played well, the problem is, will he ever win some of the crowd over ? Ok he made a couple of wayward passes and as soon as he does some of the supporters are on his back. Harris made a lot of terrible passes yesterday and we were lucky not to get punished by them but he got no where near the stick Baxter does. Baxter also made the best pass of the match when he volleyed it across the box and it was a shame Davies hadn't kept onside as it would have been a cracking goal. Baxter is still young and most probably the most skilful player we have got and some supporters seem to take delight in knocking all the stuffing out of him

Had a good game today, met with a barrage of cheers when he cased a player to the ball today in front of the John Street massive

He has been one of the better players in a few of the recent games, I can't remember off the top of my head which ones. For all the complaining about how he doesn't run around either, he is often running back chasing an opposing player, trying to get there a lot more than most others on our team.
