just read this this morning SF, you beat me too it.

I think that the real reason is that if Warnock keeps us up, then davey boy will feel that he aint no longer number 1.

IMO anyway

I have respect for Bassett for what he has done, and everyone are entitled to their opinions but his comments are unnecessary and out of order

Unfortunatly our old mucker DB has become something of a motor mouth recently, he seems to have an opinion on every subject matter. I heard him talking on the radio about female football comentators, what utter rubbish he was spouting, he has become a senile, sexist rent a gob.

Well thats written in the mirror so i find some of it hard to believe anyway.

Although he does make some good points about Warnock and i can see why he would prefer Jewell out of the 2.

Also he didnt actually say he wanted the Blades to go down i think he would rather Warnock bugger off.

Well if he'd rather Warnock goes down what happens to the Blades??

It's like the Warnock bashers on here wanting us to go down......er....

well i my self think we will stay up and dave bassett will have turned some supporters who had respect for him in to disrespect i for one dont like his comments about us going down but hey think he's jealous cause warnock is keeping the red army up :D:D:D

I think he would rather warnock get the sack and join a lower club. I wouldnt of though Bassett would want us as a club to go down.

Also lets not forget these quotes are in the mirror.

So he would want a club to sack a manager that has brought stability to the club and got us into the Premiership and is about (touch wood) to keep us there?
WHY?
I think he's just talking for the sake of it really.

The article read different in other papers, looks to me like shit stirring by The Mirror. As for the Warnock comments DB maybe thinks Neil has taken us as far as he can, just same as a lot of fans do.

Exactly thats it maybe Bassett thinks Warnock has gone as far as he can with us. Which is a similar view shared with many others.

Although no surprise the Mirror are stirring it up ahead of the game.

Maybe so, but why would anyone with a love for the club bring it up (even if it was their feelings) on the eve of the biggest match in recent history?

"many others" shared the view that we'd never reach the premier league under Neil Warnock, which means he's already proven "many others" wrong.

So ? Bassett is entitled to his view.

He obviously dosnt rate Warnock which is fair enough really.

Maybe was the wrong time to comment though.

I never said he wasn't entitled to his view. As a manager and football professional he should have at least respect for Neil Warnock and his achievements. What I was saying was that it was the wrong time for such a comment, as you've half agreed with yourself :)

Definately the wrong time to comment, if indeed he did comment, but it may have a positive affect anyway.

here here mr fox :D
a die hard fan with a positive view :D
thats what a club needs but not just the one maybe 30.000;)
i totally agree tho mate well said

Apparently Neil Warnock was asked about the comments and replied by saying how he wonders why Bassett applied for Brian Kidd's job if he doesn't like him.

:)

For the record, met Warnock and McCabe just 45mins or so ago. Both lived up to my previous experience and were very approachable, genuine and friendly people.
