Man of the match for me yesterday. Southend were a team of big dirty sods and the referee gave us nowt for most of the game. Defence stood strong and some great headers and tackles by all 3 at the back, especially Basham.
Been a very consistent 7.5 or 8 out of 10 for last 4 or 5 games. Plays an important role in the squad and has shown he is versatile.

Defo one to keep for next season to see how he gets on at a higher level.

Not slating him. It I still prefer the defence with wright in it.

I'm not discounting the effect he has on the overall performance tho

Don't have a problem with Basham in the back 3 at all. He does read the game well and is not afraid of a challenge.

At Bury he played in midfield and although he was very good on the day, the performance from the team was work man like as against being smooth (lack of Coutts & Duffy). Bury noticeably had a lot of the midfield play as Coutts and Duffy weren't there to control things as they normally do.

He can stay at the back now in a 3 - but only a 3, never in a 2.

A solid and very dependable player. Another one who never hides or let's his head go down. Understated and often unsung.

In terms of playing at a higher level I think he could struggle in today's Championship but he certainly deserves a chance to prove himself, should we get there.

Had a good game, was weak for their second though.

Correction, it was actually freeman that was weak so i'll let him have that one.

Ye in God's name don't let some hear you discussing Versatility. It apparently has no place in this team or squad.

I dont think bash gets much criticism at all, because while he is playing in a back three its suits him and he looks good, because he came as a midfielder we tend to still probably see him as a temporary center half, if nobody had ever heard of him and he came as a centre half nobody would question his ability as a defender, me included. I think it is because of his experience in midfield that he reads the game at tge back so well, I like most everybody else am very happy with his contribution and he now looks settled and content and worth his place in the side, again ( how many times hasthis been said) well done CW and AK.

I thought he was excellent and he was my man of the match too at Southend.

He's been really good the last few games and he's someone that get unfairly criticised IMO.

I've slated Basham off a few times and i'm still scepical as to whether he can make the step up or not but he has improved as the season has gone on and deserves a lot of credit for doing so.

He's doing everything he can to keep the shirt and not doing a bad job of it recently.

I prefer Wright to Basham but i'm not going to complain too much about it at the minute.

He is more comfortable than Wright in bringing the ball out of defence, he's never going to be the greatest passer of a ball but with the current midfield three we have it's not a big issue.

Totally agree... 'generally' his decision making is really good regarding stepping out of defence and making the extra man and overload on their (normally left) fullback.
