From O/S:

The Blades have reinforced their goalkeeping department with the addition of young Australian stopper Lawrence Thomas, who has signed a deal until the end of the season.

Thomas 18, has recently impressed whilst on trial at Shirecliffe and he is poised to go straight into squad for Saturday's trip to Vicarage Road.

The goalkeeper who joins on a free transfer from New South Wales Premier Division outfit Bankstown City Lions trialled with Coventry City last summer.

Have we got any intention of playing him in the next five years or will he end up sitting next to Aksalu on the reserve team bench?

would like to see him, or anyone for that matter, given a chance in goal, cannot be worse than Simmo.

didn't they say that carroll was sent packing because they want someone who can immediately challenge for the first team? which would mean that they view thomas as a candidate fit to play first team football?

Seems to me that the contract just to the end of the season tells us we're unsure about the bloke - and the fact he had an unsuccessful trial at Coventry suggests he can't be a nailed on first team choice.

I'd suspect we're just having a thorough look at him before deciding if he's good enough.
