attention to those who are in the anti-Clough brigade

Look at how Newcastle fans created a toxic atmosphere for Pardew and "driving" him out to Palace.Since then Palace have leapt up the table like a salmon and are in only one league place behind Newcastle.........

I don't consider myself to be in the anti-Clough brigade. I'm in the anti-Sheffield Utd are in league 1 brigade.

The bottom line is something has to change. We have been in this godforsaken div for 4 seasons and don't look like we're getting out of it
any time soon. How the feck can we be optimistic when we cant score goals, cant put a run together and don't buy enough decent players where other teams seem to do it? I don't believe in sacking Clough at this stage, I really hope we can get promoted but the cup is a smokescreen for how bad we have been this season. Still time to turn it around but is anyone optimistic?

I'm losing the will to live.....

We are 18 points behind the top two clubs, there lies the inevitable pressureas we are under-achieving in the league.

We play the wrong tactics and formation, that much is obvious.

I've just read Cotterill's post match comments after the Scunthorpe game. Basically he says they ended up being a counter-attacking side because the other side played so well in the first half. He said they didn't play their usual attacking game and had to resort to counter-attacking to make the most of the situation.

We counter-attack and resort to an attacking game if need be late in the second half. The exact opposite. They are 18 points above us so I think they must be doing something right.

For me it's now play offs at the best. Changing a manager is not the answer. The players and tactics need to reflect the fearless attitude of cup matches.

That said teams in this division play totally different against us than the teams we've scalped in the cup.

For as long as I've followed this club we have never consistently beat the teams we should and as a result have never run away with the league or been nailed on for promotion. The season we gained auto Reading ran away with it while we went to the last couple of games.

We need to stick with Clough for at least this season get behind him and the team and see what comes of it.

It's an arse of a league and the sooner we're out the better, but this is the Blades and we all know it's a bitch.

Ditto, I'm not anti Clough but he's not doing it for us. In an ideal world he would be our manager and we would be doing a Brizzle or Swindon, sadly we've got him but something's not right

We know what aint right McCabe and Co hired in Clough another Danny Wilson to steady the ship and run the team on a shoe string. Luckily we have had two very good cup runs which papers over the cracks, the reality is nothing has changed apart from we have an American to blow warm air up the fans arses as most can now see through McCabe and his past bullshit.

I`m sure most blades want Clough to be the best manager we,ve ever had. But football is about the results and the results are not good enough. Why shouldnt we expect united to be in an automatic place and beating teams the way Bristol and swindon are. We should have high expectations. I'm not anti Clough at all but he does make an awful lot of excuses. We should have won this game ,that game, and maybe utd should have won a lot more games, but they haven't.

I'm angry that the league seems to be at best second on the club's list of priorities and im gobsmacked that some of you are ok with that

I didn't say that ,I said I won't be coming on here joining in the celebrations I'm not bothered where we finish in the milk cup unless we win it and even then it wouldn't be worth another league one season but our players manager and board would rather prostitute us out in the cups like we are fucking non league minnows with the begging bowl out

It's making me mad now just thinking about it

You said "I said I won't be coming on here joining in the celebrations" which means you wont be cheering if we win!

Roll on 2019

10 points from 10 games sure ain't promotion form. By the time we next kick a ball in anger in the league we will probably be mid-table (admittedly with games in hand). Unfortunately, I don't trust the board to provide the tools to do the job anymore than I trust Clough to know how to use them.

You never know , perhaps the board are shit scared giving Mr Clough / Mr Clough brother the money . Is the board have differing opinions about all things Clough ,as us fans . No idea , but time will tell.

I'm anti clough, don't like the man never have ignorant egotistic balloon. Taking us backwards, this is his team his players and we are utter shit. Couldn't give two fLying f's about cup runs, which is all that's keeping this idiot in a job. He won't get us promotion we won't make playoffs the man needs to go.

Lets give our verdicts / postmortem at the end of the season . Yes disappointing and frustrating up to press ,but we need to stick with the manager , and not start all over again on the changing manager merry-go round . Yes pissed off , but we are not yet down and out.

Play offs are more than achievable , and winning them is .

Wer'e nearer bottom 4 than top 2, so relegation is just as achievable, LBoE.

Yes but what can we do as fans but to support the club , and lower our expectations and hope for the play offs , and not a relegation dog fight .

Suppose we could have a car park demonstration , or not go to our seats , until a chosen time , but that will get us nowhere .

The club have not promised us promotion , but if we do not achieve it , even by the back door of the play offs , then something has to change and it will not be the board .

The truth is that we are a middle of the road team , punching above our weight .

I hear you pal, just frustrated that's all.

It's a good job we've had these cup exploits the last couple of seasons or I would be on a complete downer.
Like everybody yesterday I was gutted but I soon get over it these days.
Let's go and enjoy it at Spurs and at Preston I know for a fact I'll have two good days out with the lads whatever the result

I think Clough is generally a good manager, and I doubt we could get better if he got the sack. At the current rate, we'll finish 5th/6th and contest the play-offs, and honestly I think that's fair. There's a lot of entitlement amongst Blades fans, because we all think we deserve to be in the 2nd tier, but the harsh reality is that now, after 4 years in this division, we are an established League 1 side, just like Coventry, Walsall and Oldham. We are now at this level, so anything above mid-table is actually an achievement. Our position in the league is completely fair on the balance of the season, and we shouldn't expect any more. You all mouth off about the lack of quality in the squad, yet we've been in the top 6 most of the season and have reached a cup semi-final. With the squad we have, that's pretty solid. We'll qualify for the play-offs, and then it's anyone's game, isn't it. We are not owed anything. We are not entitled to 2nd tier status. We have to earn it.

I don't want a change of manager but I do think that Nigel needs to adjust to this division..
For me he's proved he can tactically manage at a higher level, now he has learn how to manage at this..
Hull couldn't live with us playing football at Wembely so they brought on the heavy mob to smash through up front and we crumbled., we need to be able to play our own up front heavy mob when it's needed or we will be stuck down here forever.....

I agree, this league is so physical, and I have seen several teams get 3 points against us literally through virtue of them bullying us off the ball. MK Dons at home this season is one such game that sticks out for me in that respect. Also, Bradford at home last season was a good example. We were 2-0 up at half time, and they pulled it back to 2-2, because they had a first 11 of lower-league bruisers who mopped up our wiry midfielders at every opportunity.

Until Higdon was brought on yesterday, only Jay McEveley and Mark Howard were six foot or taller, so we won virtually nothing in the air, we don't have a natural "rough house" player, Doyle being the nearest, O'Grady could be that player if we sign him, defenders were bouncing off him at his last game at the lane.
