You posted re. parking at the Lane and went to the match last night. So what were your thoughts?

I think most of us were very impressed with The Saddlers. Was this a one-off for your team? Any of your players consistently play well or did you just 'play out of your skin' as if it was your 'Cup Final' (© Danny Wilson, Gary Megson, any other manager who wants to get their excuses in early). I know if I supported Walsall, I'd be waking up with a big black cloud over me this morning.

Your thoughts please. And well played.

I second that. The blades played their get out of jail free card last night. The changing point for me was when your lad took Mendez-Laing out of the game. The crowd and team woke up. Doyle and Williamson came on and changed the game

This was the 1st game I have seen this season and I cannot tell you how proud I am of our boys. Being 2-0 up and going on to lose 3-2 is a proper kick in the face. I believe we did enough to win the game and can't believe we lost. IOur team has changed a lot since Dean Smith came in to manage us. We show heart and passion and actually look like we want to win games. I we had played you lot with Chris Hutchings in charge you would of battered us.
Once we went 2-0 up I felt we sat back and against a team of your quality that is never a good thing to do. We should of carried on playing how we were and attacked, because, you will have to aggree, we were the better team for the 1st hour of the game. If we play like we did yesterday for the rest of the season I can see us pushing for a play off place because not many teams will be able to cope with us playing like that.
Every single Walsall supporter is proud of the way the boys played last night, yet deiappointed that we ended up coming away with nothing from a game that we at the very least deserved a point from. Well done boys.

On a different note, Danny Wilson is a cock!!!! I was listening to his interview on BBC Sheffield on the way home and some of the shit he came out with was unbelievable.
"We were the better team and the result was never in doubt" Get real you idiot, you were lucky and were given a dodgy penalty. No one single bit of credit was given for the way we played. The bloke is a tosser

I think you have to bear in mind that his audience for this interview probably wasn't the Walsall fans, but Blades fans who have been critical of his appointment. He's been told to lay the fighting talk on heavy to give his critics the confidence that he's the right man for the job.

Good luck with the rest of the season anyway. The way you played, you should do well this season. And we'll be calling on you for parking/pubs advice when we visit your place :D

Snatching defeat from the jawas of victory is something we've specialised in in recent seasons.

I'd ask you to listen again on the bbc match report page. Granted I never had the harry vollers turned up to blaring, but he gave your team quite a bit of credit.

I agree with much of your summing up. For the first 60 mins you were the home side and it felt like we played like the away side.

You definately deserved something from the game and I was impressed with the way you went about your business

Just one thing I don't agree with regards your summing up and that was Wilsons post match interview. Whilst he said he didn't think the result was in doubt, I think he said that when we had scored the first goal and was in the ascendency. He didn't say that based on the whole game.

Tbh, a number of fans I have spoken to, said that when we started to play and we did score that first goal they also thought we would go on to get a result.

Anyway, your team did yourselves proud and I expect you to be up there giving opposition teams a good go.

Good luck for the rest of the season, especially against the pigs, but obviously not when we return to yours.

I was about to say the same thing.

He said we were better for a small part of the first half (most likely the 5 minutes towards the end), but admitted that you were on top for most of the match.

Anyway, good luck with the rest of the season.

Thanks for your 'take' on events, RugbySaddler. Pen a note in your diary for Tuesday March 6 and get back to us with your report on the return leg.

Always good to have proper fans on this board.
