Atletico Madrid defender?

if he was promising he wouldnt be leaving atletico madrid at 23

I think that's slightly harsh to say the least.

What are Atletico? 4th, 5th best team in La Liga?

Let's say Man City or Liverpool are getting rid of a defender that's played 70 odd games but isn't quite the cut for a top 4 team, would you take him to United?

Not sure who it is. All I know is that Atletico have a french defender called Rod Fanni

No word of a lie, check it out - if only he played in this country :D

If he's had over 70 successive appearances for Athletico Madrid and is only 23, why is he only on trial? Just sign the lad! Oh and ask him to bring his mates Sergio and Diego with him.

My mate plays Fifa as Atletico just so he can hear the word "fanny" regularly. True story.

Tend to agree with that. If he's good enough for Atletico, he's good enough for us.

Not sure about Sergio and Diego though. How would they get a game with Evans and Hendo on the books???? :D

I have to say though, I'm struggling to get my head around the concept of a regular starter at Atletico Madrid needing a trial at Sheffield United. Someone with that type of playing record at a top 4 spanish club would surely be able to attract better suitors than us (with all due respect to the club)?!!!

After doing a bit or research it could possibly be Francisco Regalon Cerezo, who's just been released by Atletico Madrid B. Not exactly a top 4 La Liga side.

I saw that suggestion on another forum. He's the B side captain apparently. That doesnt constitute 70 apps for Atletico Madrid does it?!!!

Having said that he might be a world beater.....having said that it might not even be him.

Nail on head!

What an insult that would be to have to trial at ours having been a regular at theirs

The 70 appearances were probably for the 'B' side! :)

Someone may just have their facts a little wrong me thinks.

The comment doesn't say his last club was A. Madrid.

He may have played 70 times for them when 18.

He could be absolute toss and played 100 times for Albacete or equivelant since then.

Using the Kevin Blackwell Exaggerating Comment Generator, if you input 'has played regularly for Atletico Madrid reserves' it does come out with a comment like that. It's how you also ended up with:

- We've got 20 players injured at the minute [during injury crisis]
- Half the team are under the age of 23 [when highlighting team's inexperience]
and
- He's been doing ok [on Mark Bunn's 09/10 season, reused to describe Stephen Quinn's]

NB: I might be exaggerating some of the above
