Would you have been satisfied with, four games to go, being virtually sure of a play off place and in with a shout of automatic?

Lots of people were predicting a season of mid table consolidation at best, so my answer is yes.

I've been saying we'll finish second pretty much all season so, yep Id accept this as we're still on track

Given the players we lost absolutely (apart from the prospect of the play-offs obviously).

At the start of the season, yes.

In December, yes.

In February, no.

Before Staurday, yes!

I was predicting a struggle. As it turned out, the only struggle we had was to be effective at home.

So regardless of what McCabe says about highest budgets etc etc, I'm satisfied enough. If we win tomorrow I'll be more than satisfied.

This is what the votes were at the start of the season

http://www.s24su.com/forum/index.php?threads/blades-2012-13-your-current-thoughts-part-2.27596/

Nearly 40% expected automatic., nearly half predicted play-offs.

Only 13% expected mid-table consolidation.

WalthamstowBlade predicted releagtion, so obvioulsy he's pretty chuffed with how the season has panned out.....

(Based on 68 votes)

Fair enough - my vague memory was of pervasive doom and gloom last summer. It just shows how the pessismists shout the loudest :-)

If you notice I neither voted nor commented as there wasn't an option for sacking the manager five games from the season end whilst sat in a play off spot with automatic available if we win all five.

Very short sighted some of these polls/threads?

No. Although we lost players the league is alot worse this season but I still expected us to win the league.
The fact we may not get auto and the way we have played most of the season means we have failed.

I dont mind losing or drawing games when we have played well. We havent played well at home for 90% of the time.

It could also be your selective bias!

I probably would have taken this at the start of the season but I really, really want us to win this league and complete the set. Far more than I actually want us to go up.

I would have taken it pre-season for sure. But I don't really want to lose at Wembley AGAIN.

League one this season is very poor so how anybody could be happy being where we are is a mystery to me. If doncaster with there current squad was in league one last season i really dont believe they would be in the top 6...

no to be honest only auto would have pleased me before the season started, but with how we have played this season, the rubbish I have seen at home games, I am really pleased to be has high as we are. If we do fail to reach auto but morgs can keep the high tempo up from the last game, I will actually be up for the playoffs for once.

Yes.

I also think if we win our last 4 games then we will win the league. Donny will slip up vs. Brentford.

Only if Brentford needa result to get auto themselves IMO. Otherwise they will rest players for the playoffs...

If he's referring to the Doncaster team, then really it's a collective noun, so 'were' is appropriate in that use.

That's how I approached it, but Balham's analysis is also correct, I think.

Anyway, bollocks to it. I'm off to the Lane! It's a big one tonight, lads and lasses. Time to get behind the lads.

COYRAWW!!!!!!!!!
