Proceeding on the assumption that Derby don’t upset the odds tonight, Arsenal at home was, in my opinion, the best draw we could have got.
Wanted to be at home but didn’t want to be repeating a fixture that we have coming up in the league (as often seems to happen in the Cup). So, that ruled out Norwich and Chelsea.
Similarly, we have Newcastle in the league next week, and frankly, I’d be happy to never endure the tedious frustration of playing Steve Bruce’s Newcastle ever again, let alone suffer it twice in 2 weeks.
Man U is always an attractive fixture but we would be weakened by not being able to play our first choice goalkeeper.
Nobody wants to draw Man City. Obviously.
And, Leicester, are, well, Leicester. A bit of a nothing fixture and their fans might turn up with club-issue ‘clackers’.
So, Arsenal - a team that has shown very little in our 2 fixtures against them; hasn’t won many games this season; and which doesn’t travel particularly well - seemed to me, to be the best option.
