I honestly can't tell if we are slightly behind the other clubs at the moment. For example with Wigan signing an excellent keeper and somebody else from Rotherham which could turn out a decent signing.

A lot of other clubs as well have started signing a few players by now. I don't know whether we are far enough behind to lose out a great deal but it is worth pondering.

Once again I need to make this absolutely clear that I am not blaming the club or anybody else, it's just merely unlucky at the inevitable time loss that selecting a new manager produces.

Did Nigel not say the players were due back from holiday on the 29th June and he would have a good look at them on the training ground before he made any decisions on new signings and player contracts/sales.
Maybe from all the DVDs he's seen over the last weeks he thinks he only needs to tweek what he already has. I am sure he knows what he is doing and if he needed to move quicker he would be. Who knows, but have faith.

Transfer movement will be made after the 1st July . Adkins will know the players and positions he is after . If he was after any of the players Wigan have signed , i am sure they would be at the lane already . Confident that this bloke knows what he is doing . Don't forget we already have a good squad , which needs tweaks , not wholesale changes

He may also use the loan market , with quality being the key on all recruitment issues .

Calm down mate, I think that's what he meant. That we could be talking to clubs and players on the quiet. Deals could be close but we're just keeping them under wraps until they're over the line.

I would think NA wants to assess what he has within the squad before going straight into the transfer market. I'm sure there are already potential signings being looked at.

I saw a few Rotherham games last season, the lad is good steady honest pro. not blessed with pace. very similar to Collins in fact.
He was on their bench quite a lot to be honest, this league is about where he currently belongs.

How do you know we don't have agreements in principal?

No one has done any significant business yet. One or two have made a couple of free transfer signings. It tends to tumble from the top down and only one PL club seems to have done very much business.

Most activity always takes place in July with a further flurry at the end of August.

I am certain that I read a quote somewhere from NA that stated it could take at least two transfer windows the shape the squad into what he wanted.

We've got to have faith in the new gaffer, when he took over at Southampton it was a month into the season and he still did it (granted there were a few stars in that setup waiting to emerge) . If we want a title winning side we need to sign quality, when he has had time to assess what he's inherited, not just rush in.

This thread is nothing to do with Adkins and having time to assess his squad, i know that as does everybody and i'm not surprised we haven't signed anyone yet, in fact it's quite pleasing he looks like he's doing it properly. This thread is simply to see whether you think we have maybe fallen a little behind some other teams through no fault of our own, as they have already started to sign their players.

This thread is simply to see whether you think we have maybe fallen a little behind some other teams through no fault of our own, as they have already started to sign their players.

No worries, think I know what you mean but we've just changed manager, so hopefully we are way ahead of where we'd have been if we'd stuck with NC. Personally I think he will be able to get a lot more out of the players we already have as well as new signings (that we do need). Strikes me as one who will unite everyone whereas NC seemed to be divisive, had his favourites, had his fallings out etc

It's a very different thing. I have great pride in my club and want the best for it. Bladey Blades revel in small club, small time, underdog, upanatem attitudes. They know their place and it extends no further than the end of Shoreham Street. I see a bigger picture for our great club.

I have published a list of things that show whether you are a Bladey Blade. Do keep up. It's out there for those who want it.

I dont even think the squad will need huge changes apart from in CB to be fair.
