Arbitration upholds original decision

No surprises, the story is on the beeb site.

We don't want to play in their cheating shit southern league anyway ;)

Shall we see if anyone north of Birmingham fancies a Premier League North? Invite Rangers and Celtic ;)

Can't say it wasn't expected. Not too disappointed and at least we know what the craic is for the next season.

Nobody likes us, we don't care!

Nobody likes us, we don't care!

couldnt agree more. Didnt expect anything, didnt get anything.

Im glad its all over now though we can start looking forward to this season.

COME ON YOU RED AND WHITE WIZZZZZZAAAARRRRRRDDDDDDSSSSSSS!!!!!

You can shove your corrupt league up your bum,
The Premiership is full of cheating scum,
Bollocks to all that, South of Watford Gap,
As the Blades march up Division One.

La la la la la la...........

Remember where you heard it first kids ;):D

Ok say we vent our anger at the premier league, but the real culprit in this is Warnock and the absolutly dire team selection and performances from the Newcastle game to the end of the season. We were safe and threw it away. As they said on Sky the panels original result was based on the belief West ham would be relegated anyway, if they had have been then a fine of £5.5m would have been a sever punishment.

Warnock is to blame if blame has to be placed

agreed. If we have to find a scapegoat then lets use him

Blades statement:

SUFC said:
Sheffield United confirms that it has received the arbitration award in relation to the proceedings regarding the disciplinary decision, date 27 April 2007, in the Tevez affair.

We are pleased that the tribunal rejected the Premier League's contention that we were not entitled to challenge that disciplinary decision.
We note that the tribunal in response to that challenge, decided not to overturn the disciplinary commission's decision, despite concluding that they would in all probability have deducted points from West Ham had they been hearing the case themselves.

We are obviously very disappointed by this conclusion, in particular in circumstances where the tribunal recognised that the outcome of the decision turned out to be "unfortunate in the extreme," and that Sheffield United have done nothing wrong to merit this outcome.

We are currently considering these findings with our professional advisers. It would be inappropriate for us to comment further until we have had the opportunity - properly - to consider the reasons the tribunal has given for its decision.

We are indebted to the support we have received from supporters and professional individuals in relation to our Campaign for Fairness, particularly those with no prior Sheffield United allegiance, and for the support given to us (whether or otherwise) by fellow clubs.

West Ham statement:

WHU said:
The following is a statement from Eggert Magnusson, Chairman of West Ham United Football Club...

"We are happy that this matter is finally closed and all parties can now move on. The arbitration panel's decision is very clear and reflects what we have believed all along.

"West Ham United have been preparing for next season in the Premier League since the final whistle at Old Trafford in May and we will continue to do so.

"I would like to reiterate that Carlos Tevez is a registered West Ham United player with a playing contract that still has three years remaining on it, and that situation remains unchanged."

It's stuff like this that sticks in the throat!
"The tribunal said they had "sympathy" with the Blades, while West Ham had been "deliberately deceitful" and yet remained in the Premier League."

They're basically saying "Yes, WHam cheated and SUFC are in the right but there's nothing we can do as the PL covered their tracks!"

Why do we need a scapegoat?, its all already happened, it isn't going to change and at the end of the day...

Without West Ham operating outside the rules we'd have stayed up.

And what West Ham have basically said is...

You couldn't relegate us because look at all the money we've spent.

We're good at this statement interpreting :D

No surprise there.

I just hope we dont lose too many players now.

RIGHT,

we've been through it, we felt the pain, we were hopeful, we werent abusive (Not all of us anyway) our chairman did what he thought was right for the good of the club, supporters and team. Its no doubt cost us more than will ever be identified, and the ruling was no different to the original one. Most of us expected that, all of us were hopeful that maybe just maybe we might get a little of the green out of this whole debarcle.

At the end of the day the Prem were never gonna loose as that would be as good as admitting that they were wrong. Noone knows, we may have even got a little settlemment out of it that noone knows about (Hardly likely but we can dream). The point is that its over and done with now, thenk you very very much chairman, thank you for persuing the cause.

BUT we appreciate that we as well as everyone else knows that the ultimate ruling is wrong, the prem have made a complete hash of everything, couldnt organise a piss up in a brewery, etc etc etc, but please please please unless you can find something or some loophole that means we are almost 99.999999999% guaranteed a result in favour of us, let it lie. We need to start and make sure that the team is absolutely ready for the up and coming season, we need to replace players that are leaving, we need to recruit new players to as cover for the players that have left and for the first team should we get injuries.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE .......................LETS MOVE FORWARD

Bugger West Ham, and the fuckwits running the Premier League.
All the fun of another promotion season coming up......

didnt expect anything, fook em. Lets go to the real grounds on terraces instead of these shitty palstic things.

Very well put, i have been struglling to write a post that communicates the points that you have raised for the past 10 minutes.

Let us hope for a spate of signings in the very near future that will shift this whole disgusting affair from the forefront of our minds.

My love of the game has taken a serious knock this past season and i'm ready to start enjoying my football again, away from the politics of the PL.

Up the blades.

Still the questions will always be there with statements like this....

If it wasn't legally watertight why did they allow it??

I'll never understand that logic.

“The offending third-party agreements still existed and the FAPL endeavoured to seek assurances from West Ham that they were no longer valid and effective.

“These were sought on April 27 and again on May 4. As a result of the assurances given the FAPL permitted the registration to stand.

“The tribunal concluded it was not unreasonable for the FAPL board to reach that conclusion in the light of the assurances given that the third parties were not able ’materially to influence the West Ham’s policies or the performance of the team’.

“The arrangement may not have been legally watertight but was a practical and workable solution to a difficult situation.

“It is to be doubted that the FAPL (or anyone else) foresaw the spectacular results of the last three matches which saved West Ham from probable relegation.”

on a lighter note, and in addition to what ive just posted, lets win the league this season. The winner last season got a reported £70m, so lets go all out and win this season, not runners up, and reap the benefits

Where did you get that figure from? That's higher than the premier league prize money. If you include subsequent television money that arises from promotion it still wouldn't come near 70m.

Also, as most of you would have gathered, I'm in the claret & Blue camp as far as the arbitration goes but I'm not here to gloat. Frankly, the summary from the panal released today seemed even more bizarre than the original disciplinary report. To offer conjecture on whether or not they would've deducted points had they heard the original disciplinary has no place in this report, as it was not the remit of the arbitration panal to decide the punishment.

Best of luck for the coming season people, if McCabe releases some of the £850m he's pulled in this week you should be in for a good year.

The PL look even worse after this report and it needs shaking up so everyone is clear about rules and punishments.

They went as far as possible, in my opinion, without throwing it back at the PL and this is why there was the references to the first decision.

This is of course to try and stop United taking it any further but seems to just fan the flames in my opinion.

I still think you have got away with it.....but that is not your, especially the fans, fault.

Anyway thanks for being reasonably humble and I have no problems with the more sensible West Ham fans.

My best wishes to you too.

It was stated by a number in a number of different medias (And by that i dont mean the press) that the promotion would be worth an estimated £70m, sorry i should have been more clear, that wasnt the prize money, that was what the promotion was worth to a club.

Anywho, after clearing that up, and to echo SF's comment, i too apreciate speaking to the more intelligent members of the WHU fan base. Yourself and Sendo, who im sure will be on here at some point, will be welcomed by myself as your sides of the arguments are always well thought out and put across.

No sour grapes from this blade, now fook off back down south ya jellied eel eating barsteward !!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D LOL

From the PL......I think, as usual, they have been very selective with their quotes from the arbitration report.

You would hope they would drop their defensiveness and sort themselves out.

I don't hold much hope I'm afraid.

The Premier League have revealed that they are also satisfied with the conclusion reached by the arbitration panel, following West Ham's acceptance of Tuesday's dealings.

Sheffield United have failed in their attempts to be served with a disciplinary hearing, and lost their appeal to be reinstated to the Premier League.

In response to the panel's decision, the Premier League issued a statement, confirming that they have behaved 'reasonably' and within the rules laid before them.

The statement read: "The Premier League welcomes the conclusions of the arbitration panel and respects the judgement and commentary they have published today.

"The panel confirmed that throughout this complex and unprecedented case, the Premier League followed the process laid out in our rules and behaved reasonably at all times.

"The panel also understood that this was a difficult situation, exacerbated by the fact that decisions were being made against the backdrop of the climax to the 2006/07 season.

"Sir Phillip Otton and his colleagues on the panel held that the Premier League acted in accordance with it's rules and procedures throughout, including the appointing of the independent commission to hear the original case."

The Premier League's reaction to the findings continued to say that they were pleased that the panel had recognised the difficulty and sensitivity of the situation the league had found themselves in.

"They also held that the independent commission's original decision was neither irrational nor perverse and that the Premier League board's subsequent actions were reasonable and provided - in the panel's own words - "a practical and workable solution to a difficult situation".

"The Premier League recognises that, even by football's standards, we have been faced with circumstances that were unusual, unexpected and controversial.

"Our role as the board of the Premier League is to face these challenges and act at times in accordance with the powers described in our rules.

"We will continue to do this as we all now look forward to the coming season."
