Just watching USA v Ghana on telly. Who else thinks that Jay DeMerit would be a good signing for us? I've had the conversation before with my own mates and we came to a consensus that he would be a good signing.
This was months ago, we thought he might cost us £500k from our feeder club, but of course Watford have failed to offer him a new contract and he would be the perfect answer for us at centre half.

Thoughts people?

If we announce that we are interested in him, you can bet that "Leeds will also be monitoring the situation."

Oh, undoubtedly. Probably sponge bob square head at Turf Moor too.

i was thinking the same that he'd be worth a punt. he didn't have the best of games tonight though.

With the USA and Denmark out, that should speed things up a little regarding Jay DeMerit and Steven Preben Arthur Simonsen. ;)

Just an average Championship centre half for me and as others have said, didn't have his best game last night. Obviously the full-back situation is still an issue but I reckon we still need pace in there with Morgs another year older so it still wouldn't surprise me if Kyle III re-appeared for the season.

Yeah, I agree he didn't have the best of games last night for the US. However, I'd look at it in the context that he would be competing in the championship for us, a different standard to the knockout stages of the World Cup. I think he's always been a competent championship defender though.

May be me being a bit simple but what effect does Denmark being out have on Simonsen?

Stokes first choice keeper is Sorenson. I guess they would like to keep hold of the No2 until the No1 comes back safely. But as I understood it, the delay in signing has more to do with a bonus that is due on July 1st, so long as he is a Stoke player. Just part of the bizarre world of football, where a player can stick it out at a club despite everyone knowing that he is leaving, just so he can claim a loyalty bonus...
