After 72 hours since the soul has been ripped out of the club, I wonder if either Chris or the Prince have taken the time to reflect on what they have done. I'm sure Chris would have watched the game and listened to the after match interviews from both Hecky (who seems a very honest and genuine guy) and our skipper who was close to tears. The Prince must have heard all the pundits and fans having their say, which may have come as a bit of a shock for him with this sensuous of opinion.

Before the Prince offers the job to someone else (although this could already have been done) or for CW to find himself another position ( again this could already have been done) do either of them have any regrets from pulling the trigger last week?

I sure when Chris finds himself at another club, after the experience of managing his boyhood club, the feelings he'll have for that job will never be the same. His heart will never be in it. You won't find him pressing the clubs badge against his heart. It will only be a challenge for him, nothing more.
As for the Prince, although I do believe he is quite attached to the club, his priority is to make it into a cost effective and viable concern to probably sell on at some point in the future. Surely, he has to see how Norwich are bouncing back with most of the relegated team and management in tact.

I've been 100% behind Chris especially through this dreadful season, but over this weekend I've found myself criticising him for jumping ship and leaving us in an awful mess.and the disappointment turned to anger and I assume many of us went through the same process of emotions.
If we are going through this with our own emotions, I wonder if either the Prince and Chris have the same feelings. Before it's too late, shouldn't Bettis begin the process of trying to bring the two together again before all bridges have been well and truly burnt, but probably they already have to a point of no return?
I feel I want to move on and look forward, but have this nagging feeling that perhaps one of the two may be having second thoughts and may just be willing to compromise that little bit further.

Whilst writing, and not wishing to start a new thread, shouldn't the Prince be now coming out, preferably today, with his own personal statement to us the fans in a bid to reassure us?
Or is he having second thoughts!!!!!?

I don't think so.

I think Chris will be on the first flight out for a well deserved holiday and turn his phone off from all this shite.
I do believe it wont be the last time we see him in a managerial position with us though, might just take a fair few years.

Don't you think that was why it all took so long from Friday morning to Saturday night to get anything resolved and agreed?
It has to be "too late" now.

We don't know the facts of who engineered the parting of the ways. Maybe we never will. After 5 years perhaps there was friction on both sides.
CW has clearly not been his former self for months. Could he have seen the meltdown coming and wanted to walk away with his reputation still reasonably intact?

Why do this? Okay, we get him back. What then?

FACup Chelsea - WIlderball and the same old problems. Humiliation and defeat. No change. See every match until the end of the season. Close season, massive debate withing the club and Wilder stands his ground, we start next season playing 5-3-2 and get trunked further with everyone expecting HMS Piss the League. Soon, Wilder becomes unsackable, just because the fans are emotionally attached to him like a Blades babygrow you bought yet your kid is now six. C'mon, young 'un. Can't chuck it away - it's got Sheffield United on it and the Cutlasses of Despair. Get the fucker worn and get to sleep!

I think we need to get off the Billy Big Blade tit for once and start acting like a professional football club.

Any regard for us Blades would see some statement(s), from both sides, clarifying the situation. It's the least we deserve. Or are we just punters. Hated being a punter even when CW said it.
A meeting of both protagonists, assisted !?! by a menacing red and white lynch mob may clear things up and set us back on course.
I feel bridges have been burned though.

No chance, nor should it.

The team is the embodiment of Chris Wilder, once a plucky underdog that was prepared to take on and beat anyone, fight to the death and never give up, now a broken shell, surrendering before a ball is even kicked, no self-belief and gives up before the job is finished.

If he goes away and regains his swagger, he'll be welcome back in the future, but right now him moving on is for the best, he looks like he needs a break.

We definitely need something to clear the air.

As I've made clear all season, I was desperate for Wilder to stay and I'm struggling to remember ever having my duck knocked off like this before after a manager going.

All that said I don't for one minute see Wilder as completely faultless in all this.

He's stubborn which can be a positive at times but he's certainly not gone out the front door as he said he would. There may be good reason for that, there may not.

As for not feeling the same elsewhere, maybe not, but he's a professional and will move on.

I once went on the Tivoli end at Millmoor for a 1st round FA Cup game when we weren't playing. Wilder scored a penalty and ran to the Rotherham fans kissing the badge on his shirt.

The babygro analogy is fucking genius. Lol moment.

I think there will be a confidentiality clause which means we will never know the reasons ( despite the claims from both sides of the arguement)

I think we'd all appreciate a statement in person from PA.
A bit of reassurance, an indication that the club has a clear focus and plan, not just next season, but now and what we are doing to prepare for what's to come.
I doubt we'll get to know exactly what was said between the two but it would be nice to know the club's intentions regarding the extent of player turnover expected and required, and if the new training facility is actually getting built post-season, at least.
I sincerely hope that the temporary management measures in place are just there to facilitate Howe coming in for next season but he may be waiting for a better Prem offer.
At least give us something to cling onto Utd!

The only way this situation could get more farcical is if this happened.

It happened at Real Madrid. They won La Liga the following year, which is the League we'll be playing next year if the other team in Sheffield is still there and are to be believed.

No, CW will be starting a new job at a new club in the near future. He’ll either do well or he won’t. Same as SUFC. If he does well and we do, everyone’s happy, if he does well and we don’t, we’ll be pissed off and posting about “Prince Prick”. If we do well and he doesn’t we’ll say “dodged a bullet there”.
What’s certain is that the Blades will keep playing football and we’ll be happy when we win and pissed off when we lose.

No lynch mob then ?
Pity.

We'll have to wait ten/twenty years for the autobiography.

Chris Wilder - From Ball Boy to Dole Queue

Honestly think a break from the game will do him good and he'll return to football refreshed.

Hell, don't think he's had one since he was 14!

Klopp and Guardiola and Pochettino took sabbaticals so there's nothing wrong with it.
It must be emotionally tiring being a manager. I know one bloke who has been a league and non-league manager after playing, in his late 50's now and still working with a PL club but at youth level. He used to be constantly on the phone, I'd play golf with him regularly and he was never off the phone and used to tell me how football management kills any kind of life you have. I know another bloke at the start of his managerial career in L2 at the moment he's the same, his wife says that if they lose at a weekend he's a lost cause until Monday morning and they stay out of the way. Every word you say in an interview is scrutinised and you can't relax or rant about things outside of your inner circle.

Imagine this if you are the manager of the club you support, if things are going badly and you are letting your mates down as well as the fans. If he's been paid off then he needs a year off to get his 'coconut' back to a reasonable place I'd imagine, financially he should be able to.

Well, if he turns up at my campsite he is not coming in until he apologies.
