Southampton looked all over the place at times, made to look ordinary. Of all our cupsets, they troubled us arguably the least. We were superb - the back four, particularly Harris, were all excellent. Reed was superb in the middle. Our lone striker ran his McNuts off.

They looked like theyve lost the plot, but must credit our passing game , and Forster made several key saves to save their blushes

thought Che looked comfortable and assured , pleasing

Can't single one player out of that game, they were ALL immense.

Also Koemann can suck a fat one. Anyone else see him refuse to shake Clough's hand at the final whistle?

They would have beaten us by even more if they got the other 2 reds that they deserved.

Southampton have gone down in my estimation and repect.

Southampton bench get Mr Morgan a red card , and Mr Bad loser Dutch manager Koeman would not shake Mr Clough hand after the final whistle . Bad losers .

UTB

Hes on a bad run the teams stopped having the luck looks very ordinary tonight , like to think we had some part to play in that

but after we scored they kicked owt that moved

A few months ago a portion of Southampton's lineup were at the world cup whilst some of ours werent even professional footballers. Rate proud of them all.

Absolutely superb tonight. Unrecognisable from most games this season. Passion, pace & attacking intent. None of the unnecessary sideways or backwards passing we've seen in previous games. We drove forward whenever the opportunity to do so arose. Incredible work rate. Great atmosphere too.

This is how we need to play in the league. Hopefully this is the start of more positive, higher tempo football.

Not wanting to sound negative but that is why there is a large portion of the fans who think we should be top two in the league.

Let's do like we did last year and take this on into the league. This time we won't be doing it from a position of futility.

Can somebody please confirm that I did actually witness Chris Basham croyff turned 3 players at once, sprint down the line and drop a cross on a sixpence?

Be up to 1,000,000 YouTube hits if Ronaldo had done it.

Agreed. However, I think the Guardian reporter has it pretty much spot on (maybe he's been talking to John Ashdown?!)

Richard Gibson in the Guardian said:
The arrival of superior opponents to Bramall Lane arguably worked in the Yorkshire club’s favour. All too often, faced with a park-the-bus mentality of their League One peers, they struggle to turn possession and territory into profit – two months have passed since they last scored twice in a match – so the extra space available against a Southampton side who were second in the Premier League less than three weeks ago proved a welcome change.

The bigger challenge is to have three points in the bag at 5pm on Saturday. Naming the same starting 11 and subs would go a long way for me.

Can I refer you to Foxy and/or Linz on Twitter? From now on, if it beats one player it's a Cruyff turn; two or more and they've been Bashamed.

I can't begin to describe that one, class from Basham, he gets to the byline and creates a golden chance... #sufc #twitterblades

Oh, and finally - fully, fully proud to be a Blade tonight. Well done, United.
