That's all I know so far but i'd guess with McCabe in La Manga, it can only be Speed as he can't have had chance to interview anyone else. Don't shoot the messenger!

This was the info recieved from someone who is away with the man himself at the moment. Wouldn't say who though, just that it's today.

Radio Sheffield et al will be at the training ground this morning so there has to be something to report, even if it's only that Speedo was in charge. Presumably, the Board would have spoken to him yesterday.

The 2nd club statement said that no further announcements would be made until the new manager was appointed. This seemed strange to me as it didn't even mention the interim situation.

If an announcement is to be made so soon then I can't see past Speed... Unless I've underestimated the club and they've lined up Mourinho and he's down at La Manga now chatting with McCabe

It'll be Speed. The cheapo option again. However, I do feel he will do his utmost to get them playing football again. I watched him on the touchline on saturday and in the 2nd half he was very active, trying to get them playing. Blackwell was stood well back looking every bit a doomed man.

Whoever gets the job (bar Smegson) will get my full support. I wanted Blackwell to succeed but sadly it wasn't to be.

On what basis do you think speed will be cheap...premiership player, seems to be held in high regard, surely he will be more expensvie than other options(eg.Wilder,Hill etc)....does it matter if they are 'cheap' provided they can do the job...look at Holloway at Blackpool..he was cheaper than Blackwell

I think a lot of what is being negotiated will be dependant on how much compo Blackwell try's to fleece from us.

Well, it dosen't matter as long as he can do the job!

I would imagine all Blacky will want is his Contract paying up, and quite rightly so.

To be honest, if it had been me being shown the door on Saturday I wouldn`t have left without the cheque in mi top pocket, and instead of driving home I would have been off to Manchester Airport and somewhere sunny for a month.

Blackwell looked like a doomed man even with home cup game against Port Vale last year. Infact ever since the Play Off final he has looked like a doomed man who couldnt give a monkeys.

La Manga eh........where Glenn Hoddle's soocer school is......

Speed offered the job according to Football Heaven on Twitter
