Anel's no Captain

Anel has been fucking shite all season.

Looked a different player tonight, some way back to the player he looked last season. He may not be captain full time but its done the trick to bring the best out of him tonight.

I thought Robinson might have been given it as he'd have thoroughly deserved it, but I'm guessing giving it to Anel is a bit of a confidence booster with Wilder trying to raise him mentally.

Wilder probably sees it as a worthwhile attempt at getting a crucial player performing again. We can't continue with the shrunken version of him, and he can't continue betraying his own ability with half arsed performances

Anel's been poor and at times looked disinterested - clever motivating move making him captain. Not every captain has to be a shouty Chris Morgan type - if the armbadn gives him the motivation/confidence to lead by example then that will do much more for the team than someone shouting "come onnn lads" every 5 mins

Well done to every player 100% better than the Burnley shambles, but there's NO WAY Anel's Captain material never been very vocal without the armband and he needs to concentrate on his own position, without trying to organise the others on the pitch
Neither is Harry Kane, but some on here believe he is the best thing since sliced bread.

You in dressing room?

Starting 11:

Foderingham- don't like keepers as captain and already should be asserting himself on the Defense anyway
Anel- if he can perform like last season, first name on starting sheet for me
Trusty- liked what I have seen this season, very new to the club, no authority within the squad currently
Robinson- absolute leader in the old school vain, long throw great option, but still may be at risk of dropping out of the starting 11 though if Egan is back and not as technically gifted as the others
Souza- Has enough to focus on in nailing down his place potentially against Norwood
Bogle- too young
Hamer- doesn't come across as the leader type although another nailed down name on the team sheet
McAtee- loan player
Brooks- first start, no guarantees consistent starter
Osula- too young, no guarantees consistent starter
Archer- too young

I don't think Anel was given it as a last resort but you look through the squad and very few are guaranteed starters or are too young. Bring back the injuries and that reduces even more.

Best decision in my mind and Anel played the best I have seen this season.
