STV has learned has four clubs from the English Football League are interested in signing Hearts winger Andrew Driver.

Bristol City, now managed by former St Johnstone boss Derek McInnes, Burnley and Portsmouth from the Championship, as well as Division One team Sheffield united are all tracking the 24-year-old and could make a move before the January transfer window closes.

Driver made clear his intention to leave Tynecastle after failing to force his way in to manager Paulo Sergio’s plans.

The player’s agent claimed that Sergio had questioned Driver’s work-rate but suggested there were ulterior motives for leaving him out of the first team.

Sergio subsequently played the winger in four games over the Christmas and New Year period, most recently in the 1-0 Scottish Cup win over Auchinleck Talbot.

Bristol City have to be favourites for him here, with their Scottish connections. Wouldn't be a bad signing though.

Trouble is we get a pesky agent as well if we sign him...

I don't think that will matter with this one as I think Driver is English, although I am not sure where abouts he is from

He was born in Oldham but schooled in Scotland. According to Wiki he moved there aged 11.

There's no way we'd ever pull this deal off. Most Championship sides would take him.

As much as Andrew Driver, would be the perfect signing for us (would solve the pacey left winger problem we've had for years) I just can't see it happening. As Zlatan above me says most championships would take him.

He was an England U21 and was set for big things. Had a terrible injury and some were surprised he came back from it.

If he's fit and over the injury he could be a good asset for us. Flynn(much improved recently) & Driver on the flanks and Quinn at Blackpool would enable us to hang onto Evans
