Player Suggestion Andre Gray

Every year I come on here and shudder when people post threads suggesting we sign past-it old duffers.
But I think its my turn now, and I reckon Gray would be well worth a punt.
He’s available on a free, and managed 10 goals in 20-odd games for a poor, rudderless QPR team, and doesn’t look like his legs have gone yet.

Plus he has a fit missus, and we need another one of them for the cameras to cut to in televised games now that MGW has taken his away with him.

He wouldn't want to be third choice striker on under £10k a week. So even if he could recapture confidence and form, it's probably a non-starter.

I don't say that in a negative way. But we've already got Brewster and Billy (and McBurnie) in first team on "loadsa money".

Never pay big wages for guaranteed short term ageing mediocrity. Nothing wrong with buying experienced players if you’re absolutely crying out for their qualities in the first team

Would be a lazy, short sighted Blackwell/Warnock ‘they’ll do a job for us’ type signing where if the results don’t suffer in the long run, the style of play definitely will.

Not sure I saw him play a single game last season (unless he played at the Lane?) but he had a statistically very strong season from limited minutes.

Best goals-per-90-minutes ratio of any Championship player not called Aleksandr Mitrovic, top 5 for expected goals per 90 (a notch higher than Brereton Diaz).
