It’s frustrating that in much of his time with us we haven’t played to his strengths.

Blackwell’s hoof ball didn’t suit at all and latterly he’s had to rely on the most moribund midfield imaginable for service.

His incredible scoring record could have been far better.

It’s a good job the Prince sees something in Billy and didn’t write him off, he fights from his corner For him, Billy could have been gone by now and what a mistake that could have been, the prince makes sure he goes nowhere for a reason.
Every interview HRH has had for the last couple of years he always says if Billy was playing in such and such a game, instead of, we would have won that game, I think he is as pissed of as everyone else that he doesn’t get the game time.
Like Wilder always said about Brewster, he was one for the future, not the here now and was to train for a few years with Billy, did he see him as a future Billy that got thrown in too soon? But all said he is learning his game from Billy, so he has a great tutor If that’s the case it can only be a geed thing for us as Billy won’t be playing too much longer you wouldn’t have thought.

It’s the modern era 35 year olds just look at Ronaldo and Ibrahimovic. I watched a programme on tv last week in Spain where they did full medical testing on Ronaldo that concluded with them saying his body and fitness were the equivalent to a 24 year olds and in theory he could play at an high level for 5 more years…
With modern diets and training, they say the future players will be like machines and modern older players are proving it, look how old Teddy Sherringham was when he finished at the highest level.

Problem is never Billy Sharp - if you surround him with shit/under performing players, you get 100% effort & commitment but a player starved of service. If you surround him with quality players in a coherent system you get 100% effort & commitment and a player thriving off it.
The consistent is the effort & commitment and that can’t be said for many of our players.
Billy loves this club and when United struggle, he hurts.

Did anyone else see him yesterday after that shitty first half negative short corner from Norwood, Billy ran out to the top corner of the box to collect unmarked and Norwood ignored him, went short then backwards and then lost the ball. Billy proper lost it with him, I thought he was gonna drop him lol, you could hear him shouting at him from the BLUT, to be fair though Norwood upped his game massively after that. He proper lost it with him though…..

I wouldn't go that far. We weren't creating sufficiently for Billy to thrive at that level and in the opportunities he did have, he bought us some good fouls, but he struggled to hold it up long enough to link play. At the very top level the centre halves had too much for him physically. With the way we were playing we needed out balls down channels. Mousset was the best we had to offer for a short spell.

This is what you need to do lads, and if I can do it at 35, you've got no excuses. Now pull your socks up and get the team some goals.

He definitely laid down the gauntlet to the others yesterday and from what I have seen of Billy he wants them to succeed, watch him training and playing he’s always got his arm around the younger lads and is constantly encouraging them wether he’s on the pitch or not, shame some of the fans don’t offer the same encouragement instead of knocking them at every opportunity, that must be great for their confidence.
All you can say is what a model pro to learn your trade from for the younger lads and surely when he does finish his playing career he should be given the job of coaching the strikers for us…..
