Now my memory may have been 'affected'... But I'm sure I came across a place called The Alpha rooms in Amsterdam. It certainly offered a decent service and came highly recommended by the saleslady on the door... Not my bag so didn't bother but the name stuck in my mind,

When I saw the new kit I genuinely thought Surely not.. Is this where we are nowadays...

Kit has a sewn badge so thumbs up from me, not bought a shirt for years but this one, with the stripes and colours, shouts Sheffield United at you. Nice one.

I'd have preferred Wilkinson Sword but money is money and we aren't exactly a major pull for sponsors languishing in the third tier !

We are a third tier football club , so for starters we will get third tier sponsor deals . Beggars cannot be choosers .

Prefer who we have , than selling our soul for the Yankie Dollar with some outfit like WONGA with 5000 APR.

Money loaning and on line betting is all over the shop , and can pay the big dosh for high profile in the premiership or championship .

At least we are being backed by locals , who have some connection to the club , but in saying that John Holland prestige cars , who a minority can afford , big deal .

No problem with Alpha Rooms but I genuinely didn't know what they did. Until I read in the Kit Launch thread they did hotel rooms, I assumed it was some club in Sheffield.

definitely not the place i stayed in amsterdam last time - not unless 'alpha' in dutch translates to "shit running down the wall but you'll probably not care in a few hours time as you'll be fully bonged off ya tits".

Would rather a sponsor i've not heard of that doesn't spoil a shirt than t'other way around. Capital One was the last sponsor that i'd heard of i think.

Used to sponsor the official website, they're based on Eccy Rd above where the Botanical used to be with another office in London.

The guy who owns it is a 100% Blade, he's absolutely delighted to get the name of his company on the front of the first team shirt, not bad for a company he started 18yrs ago in a small office on Sully St.

Definitely worth giving them a try when looking to book a hotel, forget booking.com, lastminute etc, support a local business and a success story www.alpharooms.com

I prefer Alphaville. They were Big in Japan.

I saw them, supporting Toto at the cricket ground in Trinidad in 2000. They did a fucktonne of stuff we didn't know, or care much about, then 'Big In Japan', which got some applause.

Also on the bill was Joan Jett. She came on, shaven headed in a tight vest and a short kilt and DMs. After the first raucous number she said, "Guess there's a whole loada you guys and gals wanna come back to my place tonight and fuck me, yeah?"

She was right. I did want to do just that.

Anyway. UTB.

Anyone over 5'6" would be big in Japan.

That's more like it, 'Working for the Yankee dollar'. Saw the Skids at the old Poly in 1980 but they never sang about a new Blades kit. I think they played 'Charade' though so that probably covered it.

That's Wayne Rooney territory. She must have been about 98 in 2000.
