Warnock is believed to have offered a trial to Egyptian midfielder Ahmed Fathi.

According to respected Egyptian newspaper "Al-Ahram" Ahmed Fathi's club Ismaili have accepted an offer worth £700,000 for the 23 year old.

Fathi on trial for Arsenal, who decided to take Eboue instead :)

After his trial and medical checks at the club, last month, it appears that he left a good impression on the Sheffield United coaches, enough for them to decide that they require his services in their quest for Premiership survival.

The manager, Neil Warnock, who has a transfer kitty of £5 million to spend in the January transfer window, had previously stated that he would be attempting to buy young English players as "too many foreign imports" could spoil the harmony with in the squad. Yet it appears he has made an exception for an exceptional talent.

Just heard this has been sealed. Any reports around?

nothing at the moment, everything seems to be quiet on all transfers, i think it'll be the last week when it all kicks off. im still looking though

UPDATE: Still nothing concrete but speaking to some Ismaily fans and they are of the understanding that he will be transfered after this weekend. signing probs monday or tuesday. As they understand the fee will be around £500k with poss increase to £700k after appearances. Although the fans arent happy about this, he is most of the fans hero, home grown talent that has featured for the youth, olympic and national sides, as well as being there "ROCK" at the back , which has halped guide them to second in the table.

Thats all i have for now.....................................This is MAQ reporting for sheff-utd.co.uk, in T'egypt

has anyone heard anything about the other two egyptians that we were looking at? said and the other?

hey fathi boom boom make another tackle :)

the fact he was on trail at the arse can only be a good thing

Another good signing IMO, especially if the £700,000 figure is correct.

I think that NW has been extremely clever in this window
