Nowt to do with us; but his sacking today is disgraceful. Back-to-backs, got the Saints up-and-running, sacked in favour of some untried Argentino. Mad. Overseas owners are killing the beautiful game; McCabe is not perfect, least we don't have to contend with some obscure Johnny Foreigner who fxxxs your football club.

Saints give up on Adkins diet. With their youth policy I thought they were very much into Pro Teen

So in comes Senor Pochettino - sounds like a dodgy place to put your backhanders, doesn't it?

Conclusive proof, yet again, that everything English is viewed as an inferior pile of dogs wollads

I'm so pleased to be supporting Sheffield United and their English owner in 3rd Division of English football as opposed to those nasty foreign types running Premiership clubs. I supposed its better to be bummed by one of your own as you might not catch any nasty diseases.

This could be to do with United!!! Get Adkins in. He must have a house in our neck of the woods, from his Scunny days. Look at his promotion record. Better shout than O'Driscoll, Hill or Adams. This really could be worth getting rid of Danny for.

Ridiculous decision by Southampton by the way. The most bizare thing is that they only lost 1 in the last 6 and are in their best position of the season. They beat relegation rivals Villa away and then got a result at Stamford Bridge. Adkins clearly has the team motivated and playing for him. Not only that, but he took them up bump bump. Surely the Saints fans are not happy with this. I hope they go down. Be harsh on the fans, but their twatty owner deserves nowt else than for his club to be in the Championship next year.

All bar one of those are in higher divisions respectively and all have won silverware in the past 20 years. Something we haven't done for over 75. 4 or 5 seasons scratting about in the Premier League/Division 1 and 30 scratting about in old Division 2 and lower doesn't in my opinion make us anything other than a tin pot set of under achievers.

And its all well and good telling us its nasty old Johnny F's fault but how do you rate Risdale, Richmond and the Chairmen of clubs like Coventry etc who have lashed their clubs to the wall?

Out of interest how close to the wall do you think we are and why do you think we are any better off than the clubs you mention? We could be in administration in 12 months time if Super Blade can find a way of getting his wellies out of the quicksand.

Makes me laugh anyone can for one minute say "thank god we have McCabe in charge". Now I sit and await a sensibly laden comment about the fortunes the man has invested out of his personal wealth.

Every word makes sense. I'm off for a lie down.

Where's Swiss to tell us all to be careful what we wish for again when you need him??

utterly ludicrous. just watch...theyll go down now. the football gods arent forgiving in these situations!

i would love it, just love it, if he came here. but the chances of that happening are roughly around zero squared.

Interesting thing I heard today, the source being related to a player, is that Adkins hasn't picked the side all season and had nothing to do with players like Ramirez coming to the club. That is not to detract from previous promotions, but suggests he has done little towards this season's success.

He's been on borrowed time all season, however it makes you wonder what the board have thought of their recent run of form. They must have anticipated a more justifiable decision!

What is a dago?
So Alex Sabella is a dago is he?

A bizzare decision.
Good manager, full stop, knows this league inside out.
#shame we dont need a manager today.
Theres always tommorow!;)

Adkins getting sacked is the tip of the iceberg. English football, by which I mean the FA Premier League is global brand (after all, we've sold everything else in the UK off to rest of the world), and all the clubs that are in it are party to it. This is why it attracts so much foreign interest (right or wrong) and why some clubs who have big fanbases outside of the FAPL are attractive to those potential owners (Forest, Blackburn, Leeds etc).

English football is so morally bankrupt as it is not the game I began following as a kid 25 years plus ago. At the top level, it has become a spectacle like a Hollywood movie in that it is 'entertainment', and the point Bill Shankly once made about whether football is a matter of life or death is of an era that is not relevant to the top of the game any more.

I was annoyed to hear Adkins had been sacked because he has done well, but then I thought about the Michael Appleton situation which was (on the face of it) extremely disrespectful to Blackpool and their fans - which makes me think that it isn't either of these situations that is necessarily odd, it is just that football has become so far removed from the game/sport it used to be whether we like it or not.

One thing that is certain, is that football at the very top level is completely removed from the grass roots of the game, and the current players live lives that are unidentifiable from the everyman player of only a generation ago.

Absolute joke of a decision from southampton. And as for getting rid of DW to replace him with NA ,would'nt that make us as bad as them. DW done a decent job on limmited recources, NA had money thrown at him at southhampton even in L1.

My Doncaster friend told me that when Billy Sharp went to Southampton he was told that he was just there in case

Lambert was injured. Early this season he was loaned to Forest. They are nice people at Southampton.

While I'd never feel sorry for any football manager, this is a disgrace. Most chairmen haven't got a clue about the game - S'oton were above Newcastle who've recently given Pardew an 8 year contract (equally ridiculous).

I'm convinced that most foreign owners/chairmen think you can run a football club exactly like their businesses, whether it's a chicken farm, a dodgy sports firm or a 'property empire.'

Ajax have been fined for this - http://m.guardian.co.uk/football/2013/jan/18/uefa-fines-ajax-banners. A banner protesting about modern rich owners. Man City fans were made, by the police, to take down a banner pointing out the price of away tickets.

Football has become divided between the haves and the have-nots, the poor and the rich. And whose fault is it? Everyone's. Everyone who pays for Sky Sports, or a replica shirt, or an expensive ticket. Everyone who was happy their club was taken over by a rich benefactor, and everyone who appealed for an end to the maximum wage. Jimmy Hill, Rupert Murdoch, Beckham and Best, Shankly and Ferguson and Busby and all. The internet, and forums.

Everyone.

Except for me, and you of course. Everyone else, then. All the rest.

Modern football is shit, and that's only partly tongue-in-cheek.

No we used the ex captain of England

Disgraceful decision. But come next week it will all be forgotten about. As for McCabe being better than the saints chairman. I have you been on the sauce? A badly run club is a badly run hb no matter who runs it. I'd swap our position for saints in a heartbeat.

He's off to Blackpool if they can sort his wages (easier said than done with Oyston in charge). As said above, he's been on borrowed time all season at Soton, the only surprising thing is that they waited until now when he'd seemingly given them a fighting chance of surviving.

Not convinced he's the messiah everyone's making him out to be, time will tell but we've seen it all before with the likes of Cotterill, Boothroyd etc
