I didn't go today - living near Newbury kind of restricts my visits to games. I do however listen via bladesplayer and go to all southern away games.
After listening today - wow. This was a complete annihialation of another team in our division, yes it was only Wycombe but even still, we're talking about the football we are playing, how we go about it, how we play, how we are playing entertaining football. This is, pretty much, the same team that I watched on several occasions last season and watched dire, incredibly dull, 'football'. What sir.....sorry, Lord, Danny has done with our footballing philosophy is incredible. what we were left with in May was an absolute shambles and we all wanted consolodation this season. To watch such a transformation in such a short space of time is incredible. Who gives a flying f**k what he did before, he is now a blade and, with the backing of McCabe, has the potential to make us great once more. Are you reading McCabe? Back him and you won't find one fan that would suggest for a second that it is wasted money. This will be the best money you could ever invest at this club.
I'll go back and say "it's only Wycombe", but it's not. It's against everyone. I was at Charlton the other week where we outplayed the runaway leaders on their own patch and were incredibly unlucky not to come away with anything. This is a great time to be a fan of this football club, because that is exactly what we are now - a FOOTBALL club, playing in a class way. I watched us away at Stevenage, and came away disappointed (to say the least). But, unlike managers before, Danny saw this as absolutely unacceptable and stamped his authority even further and vowed to make changes. He didn't defend the team, he knew this was not the way to go and changed it. Those of you who went to this game will know that this is what we have seen by so many teams in the past and seen a a manager come out and praise the effort, when it was actually shit. Don't get me started on Watford away on a cold February Tuesday night under Blackwell. Danny didn't. He knew. The team got together, sorted it out and since then.....well, it has had the desired effect.
My message now is, if we don't do it this season then don't let that get us down. If we stick with what we have we will walk this league next season. We have a lot of players out of contract at the end of this season - most notably Kevin McDonald. Danny. McCabe. This man dictates everything we do. Every bit of football we stand for. Get the lad signed long term. He is still young enough to learn further still and anyone watching us will be taking notes on this player. Get him in the office and sign him whatever the cost. He is class personified, and if you replace him with Monty then....well....
This is brilliant. Wendy fans moaning about how bad their team is, despite being in 2nd place, and there we are - in 3rd, talking about how much we are loving supporting United right now.
Regardless of the opposition, this is a great time to be a fan of Sheffield United FC. Thank you Danny. Mr McCabe, back him, stand by him, sign the players he wants and needs and we will be the next Norwich / Southampton.
Wizards.
Thank you for reading,
Optimistic as f**k Blade.

Absolutely. The revolution is gathering pace.

Well said, Blade.

Totally bossed the game from the sounds of it.

I thought it was going to be a game we may of drawn with how Wycombe was setup but thankfully the possession we had counted in the end.

officially reported on bbc we had 70% to 30 possession , thats impressive at any level
THE BALL RARELY LEAVES THE FLOOR, A 100% CHANGE FROM RECENT SEASONS

And were the kop really singing 'Walking in a Wilson wonderland' or did I dream it, or mis-hear the words. It certainly was a loud rendition and not just a few, are we starting to believe??

As I said, it shouldn't matter what Wilson did pre United with regards to other teams and we should be singing songs about him. Blackwell came back to a heros welcome but had spent time managing dirty leeds (and if you believe Warnock in his book he had decided this whilst he was still with us), but was still a hero on his return - work that one out.
Danny has us playing the best football I've seen at this club in years yet there is still an unease about songs for him. Ridiculous. We should embrace the bloke as one of us. Anyone else who argues against needs to sort their muppet strings out.

If they were, it's only what the travelling support were singing three week ago. And AFAIK that weren't the first time.

Thatcham - totally agree. But especially about McDonald. I know you've been singing his praises since the get go, but really - what a fabulous midfielder McDonald is. Player of the year so far for me.

Thatcham was spaffing his load over K Mac way back in Sept. I also remember another numpty mate of his rining up P&G and saying McDonald was like Xavi (and on another occassion Zidane). He is the best midfielder in this league. Now he has addressed his fitness levels and sticks his foot in (credit to Wilson for dropping him, criticising him and then getting the best out of him) he looks head and shoulders above everyone in this league. He is a real talisman. We should get him signed on a long term contract (if at all possible) as he is a much better player than the vast majority in this league.

Unfortunately there are a few numpties out there that will never accept Wilson (a bolke in the chippy at the Valley being a prime example). Fortunately, these are a tiny minority now. Wilson has won most over the way he has gone about his business: quietly, talking sense and humbly. Most importantly he has got us playing proper football and is getting results. I am really enjoying going to games again and this hasn't been the case since the Warnock era.

We really were and what's more I heard no disssenting voices whatsoever, although I did observe one or two wry grins.
