When will people realise that the modern game is not about the 11 starters, it's about the 18 match day selection. 3,4,5 'subs' are almost always used. The game now is much more tactical and technical - it's more like a game of chess than the old traditional 'blood and thunder', 'get crosses in the box', 'up and at em' approach that could achieve success not too many years ago.
Also, Wilder's "set up and instructions" have got us top of the league (gross points wise of course); I think I'll put my trust in him, rather than some of our "punter's" opinions. Last night we weren't at our flowing best, and I was frustrated as hell with the number of times we gave possession away in half decent parts of the pitch, for them to break quickly and put us on the back foot. Like all top teams (relatively speaking of course) we found a way to win - and what a win! Top team, teams who go on to win things, do this, and they do it well. When not at their flowing best, they still find a way to snatch a result. I'm as happy as a Wednesday fan with a bag of truffles!
This is a little niggling fear I have for Sunday. Dem Pigs will set up to be solid in defence, nick the ball and look to send their big, fast forward lads on a gallop. However, on the other hand, we get an early goal, then they have to open up a bit and we rip em a new un! Cue the celebrations!!!!!!!!!!!
