I think the key to modern football, especially in the Championship, is having a solid central midfield alongside good width. Harper and Monty for me looks a very solid central midfield partnership. The last time we got promoted we had Monty and Jags which just shows that in this league you dont need the most attacking central midfield, a solid centre is all you need. I think Harper could be the missing link we have been long searching for and will bring much needed height, composure and athleticism into our midfield.

While on paper Jordan Stewart looks an uninspirational signing, I am hopeful that he could be a good player for us. He has good experience, pace, power and a cracking left foot. Couple this with Walker on the other flank and two fast wingers in either Treacy or Reid and Cotterill or Ward and suddenly we look like we could have real attacking pace down both wings. Combine that with the aerial threat we have up front and I think we could do really well this season.

I just hope we get some luck in the loan market because whilst out first team looks good on paper, we all know that the squad is paper thin and is desperate for cover. I hope we can at least stop hearing about how we have one of the highest wage bills!

completely agree Mojo, well said.

it's hard to find a proper "creative midfielder" anyway. we need someone who can hold the ball and not get bullied off it. i reckon Harper fits the bill, i think he will get forward and support the strikers too.

what is your problem with this ? did it make you feel uncomfortable that we paid so much in wages for so little return or do you not believe it ?

The problem is that McCabe always bleated on and on about it - it was his management team that set up the deals.
If McCabe and Blackwell carry on for much longer we will have the best five a side team in the CCC
And if our squad is 'Paper Thin' perhaps we could use it to cover the cracks!

Not as such mate, I was just sick of hearing about it!! (and obviously it must have been cut down considerably today)

That other MF player o' Readings is good...is it KEBE? scored agenst us at BDTBL last season??
Now if we started to tek as many players off of Reading as we have Watford....now that would be a good team...(still a couple o' theirs i'd like us to nick ! :)
