For many weeks, I've been telling people that we are a pale shadow of the team which had so much success and gained so much adulation from both the media and other knowledgable football fans across the country
In the early part of the season.

The reasons for this are not easy to define and, whilst the loss of Coutts has been part of the problem, it is by no means the only one as some on here would have us believe. A much greater one in my view has been the disruption to the team brought about by the replacement of players who were doing a good job
with ones who either clearly need time to settle in or who are , ominously , not looking up to the job.

Much as I admire what CW has done in turning our club around, it has to be said that he must accept at least some responsibility for this scenario and now show his managerial abilities, starting with never again turning out a team without a single creative midfielder and outlawing the use of unproductive sideways and backward passing and, particularly, hopeful punts upfield.

When we make shit teams like Hull look half decent, it's time to accept we're doing something wrong and fix it.

Can't forget we were playing poorly before the new players arrived. Bit harsh to put it on them

Does a lack of a labelled ''creative midfielder" render others unable to control a ball? Or force them to bizarrely play to an opponent or ping a crossfield ball randomly to another defender under pressure?

As much as midfield was poor tonight, the problems were a lot deeper than that.

I repeat my view from another thread. Something has gone off behind the scenes between Tuesday and tonight which has affected the performance and attitude of both players and manager. It was like night and day from Tuesday.

Wilders interview afterwards has cemented my view on this.

Of course they were, but I like to keep my posts as brief and to the point as possible.

I could write an essay on all the shortcomings which were on view tonight, including the defence which at times looked liked watching an under elevens team on a bad day, but chose not to do so.
