The ominous position Utd find themselves at this time made me wonder if there were any similarities between Bassett's appointment and season run in back in 1988 and Mickey Adams in 2011.

Here's Bassett's

Appointed 21st January 1988

Transfers made between appointment and end of season:

Agana Forward
Hetherston Midfielder
Williams Forward
Carr Defender
Webster Defender

First Game

1st February 1988 Portsmouth Away in the FA CUP Lost 2-1

Run of Results until Relegation Play Off against Bristol City:

LLLWWLLLWLLLLDLW

Finished 3rd bottom of the league on 46 points.

Micky Adams:

Appointed 30th December 2010

Transfers made upto now:

Bent Forward
Doyle Midfielder
Mattock Defender
Lowry Defender
Collins Defender

First Game

1st January 2011 Burnley Away Lost 4-2

Run of Results up to now:

LDLDL

Although stretching it a bit I can see some similarities between the two and to be honest I think we'll finish 3rd bottom on roughly 46-49 points.

This is based on us having played 30 games so far this season (including a prediction for tonight of a win).

on average every 10 games we have drawn 2 Won 3 and lost 5 carry that sort of very rough and by no way scientific sequence until the end of the season and we should get another 19 points, that's 5 wins and 4 draws and 9 defeats.

Bassett managed 12 defeats, 2 Draws and 4 Wins including the loss and draw against BCFC in the relegation Play off.

Still two promotions followed Harry's relegation so lets hope that's the big similarity.

Feel free to rip the above to shreds!

o my god mr happy

We've won 7 matches in 27. We need at least that in the last 19 matches to avoid relegation. I would think the chances of us staying up remain with 3 teams performing considerably worst than us as I can't see where another 7 wins are coming from at the moment. We've had 3 new managers (inc Carver) this season and we have yet to experience the new manager syndrome bounce and we haven't won a match since before Christmas. I sincerely hope I'm wrong but I think we have relegation stamped all over us that said if that turns out to be the case I'll get over it quickly and look forward to the new season with anticipation with the consolation of visiting many places I either haven't been or haven't visisted for years.

In Bassett's results you've missed out the win against Plymouth which occurred just before the only draw in that sequence.
