Unable to go today through work.
I've heard chapter and verse from my daughter who made it with a pal and her Dad.
I think today did several things.
It calmed the nerves of the many Blades who feared we would emulate the failures of so many previous campaigns.
It sent absolutely the right message to the rest of the league that our marker is well and truly set down.
And probably most importantly I think it sealed the bond and belief between the players that this is their time.
Nothing was decided today, but I believe a lot was achieved.
The board and management are clearly on the same page at long last.
The management and players are totally united.
The management, players and fans are riding the wave in total harmony.
We are nowhere yet,but I believe after today we will maintain the work ethic, desire and quality to see us achieve our goal this season.
What's great is we are doing it with style and understated modesty.
Proud of my club and everything we stand for.

Capital Y please.
That's rather nice?
Just been ravaged by Jennifer Lawrence and said "That's rather nice".
You are better than that CB.

Well said SBT. As you say, everything is far from decided but the importance of today's result cannot be underestimated. I didn't think we would win before kick off today but as soon as Billy scored I had absolutely no doubt that we would play them off the park for the rest of the game, which we did. But what we did to Bolton is just the small picture.
The big picture is that we pulled further away from the chasing pack and for the time being have left an out of sorts Scunny and Bolton in a proper dogfight with little old Fleetwood (would love them to go up with us by the way) who we don't need to play again and who will now be a real thorn in the side of the teams below us.
Provided we keep performing for the next 7-8 games we should comfortably consolidate 1st whilst we watch 2nd place become the battleground.
The performance today, second half especially was fucking outstanding. We knew we had quality in this team but we also finally have real grit and balls. A video of Basham today should form part of the induction of all academy players going forward. It really was that good.

Looking forward to watching video of today.
You're right about today leaving 3 clubs scrapping it out amongst themselves.
I have every confidence Wilder will have us focussed on each game as it comes, looking forwards, not behind us and maintaining our excellent levels of focus, desire and teamwork.

I'm a negative bastard, not that anyone would notice.
I totally refuse to accept any possibility of promotion till its mathematically sealed + 3 pts. Just the way I've been conditioned over the last 40 years.

Completely understand and agree mate. I've got simillar DNA. However,I feel the foundations this year are solidly constructed and not,as in so many previous years built on shifting sands.
No complacency on my part, just cautious, considered belief based on credible team and management.
Grassy knoll boys rule.

I get that, I really do and I am still half expecting the kick in the bollox that normally comes along BUT we do seem to be much, much better prepared and conditioned now than we have for many years. Of course a few key injuries could make things difficult but even then, looking at the scrap below us I would still fancy a top 2 spot. To miss out on the autos would require a turn of events, or loss of form so bizarre that it's not even worth worrying about. As far as I am concerned 2012 was the nadir of our luck and surely can't be repeated?

It certainly feels different to those agonising near misses of recent years. With the recent signings we've made, even if one of the holy trinity got injured, we've got Samir and JayO waiting in the wings. The only real worry would be if the fat lad got injured, because our other strikers have hardly been what you would call prolific.

I worry more for Fleck, because he carried that midfield in the 1st half.

Say that both Scunthorpe and Bolton win their games in hand. Then there will be three teams batttling for the top two places within 4 points of each other, with Fleetwood a further three points back.

Unlikely that we will miss out now I agree but a couple of losses could chance the picture completely.

The fans were singing ' The Blades are going up today' and I turned to my fellow Blade sat next to me and we both agreed it was too eArly to start singing it.
Will not start singing this until we are ' home and hosed' how's that for glass half empty ☹️
We are playing well , we have a good manager, the crowds are coming back.......but.......
Must be more positive....must be more positive....

SBT,

The big factor about yesterday's game was Bolton showed us no respect.
Most teams come to BL and set up really defensive. They give us the midfield and pack out their defence trying to frustrate us. However In the 1st half there was an actual midfield battle going on.
Bolton has a decent amount of attacks and for the 1st time in ages our defence had plenty of work.
But for all Boltons positivity they never worked our keeper as they only has 1 shot on target from long distance.

2nd half Bolton ran out of steam especially after the penalty they lost all heart.
Our midfield turned the screw and it ended up being quite comfortable although Bolton gave us a much better game than Scunthorpe who we dominanted much more but only drew.

The othe thing when you watch the video back.
Watch out for Samir's run at their defence near the end.
His quick feet and balance brought back memories of one Alex Sabella.
Would have been a wonder goal if it went in but he shit into the side netting instead.

So
He can piss where he want and now he can shit where he wants :D

Big big win for me,and well deserved, and I did join in with the Blades are going up chant, although I know it's far from done yet...They did put us under pressure first half...first 10 minutes we couldn't settle or get out and they had a series of mainly nothing Free Kicks awarded by a fussy Ref,and long throws, but that's all they had and we had the better chances....Second Half...only one team in it,and they were on the ropes and it could have been more in the end.

The most impressive thing for me, is that we take the game to the big boys. In years gone past, even the Warnock era etc when we were in and around the playoffs there was always a sense that we might not beat the big teams. Under Wilder you know there gonna have a right go. To beat Bolton is a huge result. We aren't afraid of anybody and that's a great qulity

being saying for ages the biggest difference with this squad to those of the last 5 failures is the mentality

these players are filled to the brim with confidence , in the team the system we play and themselves
this is the main reason we will go up this time and as champions

CW and Knill , I always want Knills efforts recognised ,have the team cheer leading each other on and off the pitch
The belief is the best since Porterfield romped us to the div 4 title
but the football we are playing is much better
Try and take it in , enjoy the moment

Its a special time to actually enjoy being a blade

Great post SBT
However I am expecting about seven members of our team to be arrested and locked up over the Upperthorpe shooting or election fixing in the US or the non return of a library book

There was bollox in the Pigsbro Tap last night as I drove by around 23.00. I anticipate some of our players will be villified by pigs on social media as responsible.
BTW,have you thought more about this soiree your having round your gaff? My social diary needs more dates firming up. Alternatively I could host the usual suspects at mine in a couple of weeks?

Actually we didnt ROMP to the 4th division title - it was nip and tuck until the final couple of games and although the final tally was good we werent totally guaranteed promotion until last 2 or 3 matches and then finally won the league at Darlington last match

we ended with 96 points and 14 points clear of 5th
the title went to the last couple but we romped up

Agree with you sbt when we got the pen I could barely look. Knowing 2 nil would virtually give us the 3 pts. And a massive step.

The gaps 7 points 2 teams need to overtake us for us bit to go up and with the 3 chasing all having to play each other the dream is getting closer.

I'm feeling pretry confident but still can't get carried away.

Then lose away at Rochdale. Standard ;)
