New member intro time!
The names Craig, a Blade from sunny Bradford:cry2: making my first post here...
Well, I guess it might be a bit on the unique side for most members here, but I'm one of those rare Blades not from Sheffield, and AFAIK have no relatives from there, so - I hear some of you (I think at least
) ask - why a Blade...
Well, my family were Bradford Park Avenue followers from what I recall and being born just 2 years before they crashed and burned back in '72, my Dad wasn't too enthusiastic about bringing me up a City fan. Fast forward another 15 years or so and I was desperately wanting to go to footie, but I wasn't about to go to City either (although a number of my mates would have happily dragged me down to Valley Parade) and being a Bradford lad, forget Elland Road too - so in search of a local(ish) team to support I was kinda 'talked into' going to see the Bantams play the Blades down at the Lane in the late 80's...right after a rather uneventful game (I believe it ended 1-1), being a sucker for punishment, I went and got a ticket for the next home game (which was a 3-1 win against WBA) and voila I was a born (again) Blade  The rest as they say is history.
I've been a season ticket holder in the past but now happily married with kids (all Blades BTW) and my health not being the best, I simply come down as and when time and money permit.
In fact, we were down yesterday to that rather awful performance against Tranmere, and to top it off, on the way for the coach home, we bumped into a rather large mobile pig-sty as they came back from Notts :brick: The joys of being a die-hard Blade...nonetheless, it was a nice lesson to the kids (my two eldest lads and eldest daughter) of how they only sing when they're winning - puke!
Anyway, yesterdays game also happened to coincide with my eldest's 17th birthday (featured in yesterdays programme at the bottom of the birthday list) who, with the arrangement of Dave McCarthy, got a tour of the ground and met Danny, plenty of the back room staff and a couple of players. Barring the crap performance, he had a great day as he now heads off back to the Army Foundation College in Harrogate (he's currently in the Yorks Regiment).
In closing, thanks for reading and hope to post here as often as possible - best regards to all and UTB!
