The 4 Blades convened in The Railway last night to record the latest podcast where they were drowned out by some live Heavy Metal music... so they hopped over the road to
The Copthorne for a discussion centering around a good away point at West Ham, a preview of Burnley at home, a Blades/Burnley themed quiz and to nominate their latest Hall of Fame entrants.

PARENTAL ADVISORY NOTICE:
Expect mentions of Adrian Heath and playoff defeats which inevitably leads on to an entirely necessary amount of swears.

Available at all good podcast sources (and some crap ones as well) or by listening below;

I hope so. I've had to ditch to others because of the background noise and the sound of glasses clinking together.
Where the fuck were they? In a bloody pub or summat?

Mate, please don't get me wrong - each to their own and all that - but I really don't get it. These podcast things, I mean. I could understand if you were presenting some sort of analytical or statistical information not readily available, but just a few blokes having a beer and chatting about the Blades, and people wanting to listen 🤔 What is that all about? I've seen that Deadbat does these too now - why?? I don't know, perhaps it's this "I'm a celebrity" reality TV world and everybody wants a piece of it.

I'm from the generation where people go to the pub, sit and chat with their mates about life, the universe and all things Blades but just do it amongst themselves. Why would 1. Anybody want to record and share a chat with their mates to the whole wide world and 2. Why would anybody else give a fuck and want to listen?

Ok, it's me. I'm a dinosaur lol. But I can't get my head around it.

Why do bands record their music? Why do artists paint their pictures? Why do comedians record DVDs and why do producers bother pointing cameras at actors? On a closer field, why do Sky televise football and TalkSport host phone-ins? Why do folk debate and discuss United on internet forums?

If it's not for you, that's absolutely fine. We do it because we like podcasts, we can and we enjoy it. Nobody is seeking fame, quite the opposite.

Are you a band, recording music? Are you an artist painting pictures? Are you a comedian recording a DVD? Are you an actor?

Nope, just 4 out of 30,000 other Blades having a chat over a beer. But whatever floats your boat I suppose.

Hey no offense btw, I just genuinely don't get it.

I dont have anyone to talk about bladey shit with (put the violin away) so I listen to others talk about it.

It also puts a small dent in my 18 hours of commuting each week.

If your not a podcast person, the thought of just listening to a couple of people talking about a niche subject seems odd, but In reality, it's a great way to pass those empty hours if it's a subject you're interested in (or not in some cases)

WTF? you just carnt believe it can you. As they say , with friends like you , who needs enemies! The Podcasts are a great listen

Only same.as.listening to radio, of it ain't for you, its easier to avoid than you think.

Quite true, but not my point ...... I was just intrigued as to why somebody would do these, and why people want to listen. Kudos to Scarebus 👍

I might try a social experiment in the pub tomorrow lunch. I'll pull up an extra chair to our table and shout out inviting people to come and listen to our conversation. The reaction? ...... Well, 1 they'd think I was mad. 2. If anybody actually sat down to listen I'd think they were mad and 3. FFS, they'd be bored shitless after 5 minutes.

But I accept it's the way of this new fandangle t'interweb ...... it'll never catch on 😜

I'm pretty sure the concept of broadcasting conversation for entertainment pre dates the internet. 🙂

I guess it's just the same as an internet forum that you read and reply to others' views of United on? Just it is verbal opinions rather than written?

Nope, completely different beasts.

Either way it's an opportunity to hear/read other Blades opinions, engage and respond. You have a choice to read/listen/write, or you can choose not to visit forums, read blogs, or listen to pods. Each to their own, but there's clearly an audience and a customer for all the different mediums. We wouldn't be engaging on here if you didn't have an interest in Blades related discussions of one kind.
