Although I don't think Swindon are the team they were last year it will be our toughest test so far. With suspensions and injuries what do you reckon of the possibility of Adkins sarcificing Sharp for another body in midfield?

Wouldn't be the worst thing he could do, the link up between Che and Sammon has caused problems so far. What would you go with, Reed, JWallace, Basham?

Also what was the formation when it was 5-5?

As Sirius has said I think NA likes giving the opposition problems to solve rather than worrying too much about their threat.

They have to be respected but some of the posts here about Swindon (not necessarily the OP here ;)) are the ramblings of the traumatised wandering the corridors of an asylum.

I spend most of the game thinking we'd be better suited to 4-5-1 but I think that's either the squad we know we've got and what we've seen them do or just that we got so used to it last year with Cautious Cloughie.

Adkins approach is bolder and more direct. It's risky but it's also adventurous. We have less control.

There won't be many 1-0s.

As mentioned in another thread I think Bergen said we're ideally suited to 4-5-2 (four at the back, solid in midfield, a threat up front), and it's that formation I spend most of the games advocating to WHF Jr Sr.

I think the day Adkins plays 4-5-1 we should all be concerned.

Satdi will be our biggest test, let's see what happens.

We've got to stick to 4-4-2.
My worry has been the defence, it's now even more depleted than it was before. Woolford looks like a player who can track back yet also cause problems, for me he'd start out wide and have Che on the other side. JCR is a better impact player than starter, bring him on for the worst performing winger on the hour.

The wingers must track back, and Wallace must make sure he's not made of egg shells because he's going to have a job on, they've still got that Kasim in midfield. He needs closing down at every opportunity.

Listen, it's not impossible I'm not saying that. But it's going to be an even bigger test than Gillingham, and we lost 4-0 there!

Is 4-5-2 playing without a gk??

I'd go for a 4-3-3. With a brick shithouse of a midfield with Basham, Woolford and Wallace. Let Adams, Billy and the Fish attack. But if Adams drops out of the game (like last Saturday) then give Sparky or Reid a go.

3 upfront is ballsy away at a promotion rival. But fortune favours the bold, go hard or go home, and all that ;)

I think Kasim is out fella.

4-4-2 is fine. If Swindon get on top, tuck the wide men in or drop Billy a bit deeper for a few minutes.

We're clever enough to adapt a bit aren't we?

That's insane. But pretty wonderful too.

As more of a scaredy-pants (where Swindon are concerned, at least), I'd stick with 4-4-2 though, while agreeing with you about Woolford needing to be in on the left. Adams instead of JCR on the right, & Wallace,J. centre-mid for me.

But if Nige did actually go 41221 that would be wowzers time. Who knows? - he does like his diamond midfields.

and if Collins isn't fit, and with Wallace out, presumably McGahey will be in there at centre half
