I always get depressed when we lose, you can't be competitive and feel any other way. We do have a good team for the Championship, so why is it so hard to take that we are in the top ten? I guess the honest answer is that I expected, and felt on paper, we were good enough to be doing what Forest are doing right now. I except that the revolving door has cost us a dozen points but, bumped and bruised though we are, we now have the sort of squad that (kept together) we would have expected to be more consistent. It is hard in mid-season to lower your expectations when you see what is possible (and there is a real soccer team in there somewhere just trying to get out), but with a dozen games to go there are seven teams fighting for three play-off positions. We have a chance to make a start on that campaign with Peterborough. So, I'm putting away my early season ambition and going for the new reality, yes it's less ambitious but it is well within their capability. In many ways it is like Blackwell's first 14 games, all to go for and nothing to lose. If we can't compete with this out front it will be a sad summer, cause competing is one thing I've always associated with the Blades. UTB!!!

think the problem i have had is i look at the team we finished with last season and if you take naughton out of the equation (beacuse we knew before the play off final if we didnt go up he was a definate) that with the team we had left give and take a few signings and players let go (your likes of hendrie etc to go williamson in (i thought maybe quinn to go ?? ha) we had a team that not only would go up but could finish top. The thing i didnt see happening was a complete restructure of the entire squad and to start again.

Also after Mccabes comments when we came down that we werent going to go mad and spend daft money because we didnt want to end up like ur charltons etc (backfired) i thouht here we have a man with a plan to take united to world dominance.
on both accounts i didnt realise that it was all just shit and we was just going to get bullshitted into spending money on something that was just a dream.
happy days haha
o and well done mccabe because you had me and my family believing you.

In McCabes defence when those comments were made I don't think anyone saw the downturn coming.

Also he [or Scarboro'] have just done a good deal on property worth £37M.
I'm guessing he couldn't raise all the money at the bank as normal so a good proportion of this [£19m] has come out of the Blades coffers. I've been a big critic of Bob the Builder in the past but at least I can see what he was planning now and why.

yes i understand about the downturn, but we have gone from been told a couple of season ago how we have planned for the future and we are going to be financially stable, to then be up shit creek without a paddle, by the sounds of things were not just in trouble we are screwed. By the sound of things anall mccabe wants to do a runner.

Think McCabe will be around for a while, Sheffield doesn't have the bright lights to attract investors.

as i said elsewhere, while he gets £2.5m a year interest he's in no rush to ask for his investments back
