I was curious, so I checked.

After 15 games of the 2011/12 season, when we accumulated 89pts and finished third, how were we looking?

Well, we had scored 26 goals, won 8, drawn 4, lost 3 (2 at home).

Today - scored 26 goals, won 7, drawn 3, lost 5.

Gillingham don't have as many points as Charlton had and Walsall don't have as many as Huddersfield... At this point in time, Huddersfield were also unbeaten in about 25years remember.

No so different is it.

Unfortunately we also had Matt Lowton, Harry Maguire, Lee Williamson, Stephen Quinn, Kevin McDonald and Ched Evans back then.

Also, through the rose-tinted spectacles, we tend to recall us trouncing everyone in 2011-12 and forget the dreadful 1-0 defeat at Wycombe and 2-1 defeat at Stevenage (amongst others).

Interesting to see that United are still the only team in the same division in that second table!
Can mattbianco1 publish the bottom half of the table? Would be interesting to see the other teams and where they are now

God that's depressing, we are foooooked

I "think" looking at that. Only us Walsall, Colchester and Oldham have stayed in the division ?!?!

Fair point but had Ched played by then? Seem to remember he was injured for first few months. It seemed to be signing Matt Phillips on loan that Kick started that season.

Yes Ched was out injured until about this stage. It was Phillips and Billy Clarke who were creating and scoring most of the goals. Also don't forget everyone's favourite parasite, Richard Cresswell.

So we've won one less and lost two more than a team with much better players who still didn't get promoted by the end of the season in a table where the majority of the top half have seen been promoted while we stay in this league.

And this is supposed to be a source for optimism ?????

Kevin McDonald was signed late in pre season and was far from match fit the first few weeks of that season.

That did not cost us - we got 10 points from the first 12 didn't we?

Evans played 35 games from memory, he missed the last 3 so must have been playing by now. I think his first game was Scunthorpe away.

Indeed. Though by game 15 he had only scored 3 League goals.

Of course it is. I'm surprised the word optimism was even in your vocabulary.

We have a shitter squad, in a shitter division, with shitter teams around us. We are 4pts off the total we were at back then. We've scored the same amount of goals.

If you really want to see how quickly things can change look at our results and league standings between 8th Feb 2014 to 12th Mar 2014.

We are still in the chasing pack and are playing very intermittent football. If we click "IF", who is better in this division?

It's called being realistic. Believe me, a few years ago I was the most optimistic and positive person you'd have ever met. Before the reality of our position and mis management set in.

I'd love us to all of a sudden magically click, but to be in a shitter division, surrounded by shitter teams, and STILL only be one of a number of those in the chasing pack just depresses me.

The thing a take away from it is the total difference in quality, in 2011 there was Wednesday, Huddersfield, Charlton, MK Dons and Preston. All now in the Championship and looking relatively safe (apart from MK Dons maybe). Now look at 2015, Gillingham, Walsall and Burton. Only Coventry and Wigan look like teams that look championship quality. God this is depressing.

I would add Peterborough to that list.
