Hi sorry for steaming straight back in here after a very long hiatus mentioning something I'm selling! I posted a lot around the turn of the century in good old Blades United days - remember however bad things get we'll probably never sponsor ourselves again ;-) when i was various London Blades depending where I was living at the time; Harlesden, Clapham Junction, Tooting, Balham and then a good stint as Gildersome Blade once I returned to the glorious North...ok not so glorious it's in L***s. And then when a child came along forums for any sort of enjoyable past-time fell by the way side :)

I'm selling my 1977-1978 home shirt, it's up on ebay at the moment https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/164929798052 and want it to go to a good home, i don't get to wear it too much round L***s and I'm also just not man enough like a 70s footballer for the nipple chafing material 😂. Figured this will make someone very happy whether they wear it or stare at it misty eyed in a frame on a wall so hope it's ok to share on here. There's a stack more photos on ebay of close ups all round and even some glorious photos of me wearing it to give an idea of size, so i won't clog up S24SUs server here, just the main pic.

Up to 180 quid already. Id be interested to know what you get for it so I've got an idea of how much my 78-79 short sleeve shirt is likely to be worth

If I can wear my shirts around Morley, which I do regularly, then you can wear yours around Gildersome.

Bloody whimp

As a kid I remember my first United shirt, long sleeve, round neck collar, red and white, with black pinstripes (75/76). Then got the next one, very similar but short sleeve and v neck collar. Got the Cantors/Ajax abomination and also the white Cantors away shirt from that era. They'd probably be worth a bit now, unfortunately lost in the annuls of time.

After that I stopped getting them for I while as I figured all those shirts kept getting us relegated. Hey presto promotion followed in 82 and 84. My next shirt I got was the narrow red and white stripes that saw us relegated again in 88. Stopped again until the Red and White with black pinstripes and boot lace collar, which again saw relegation in 93/94!!!

I had this in 78/79 with short sleeves. My (unreliable) memory is telling me you had to sew your own badge on the shirt. I think I remember mum sewing it on in the middle after looking at an old programme and I had to ask her to move it to the upper RH side of the shirt as that's how we wore it that season.

I've got 2 79-81 home shirts, neither of which have a badge

A dealer on ebay has just offered me a monkey for it....tempting but will let it run

Just remember that ebay will take at least 10% off you if the deal is completed through them, although if you're not in Sheffield a face to face deal might be harder to organise.

I'll swap you my entire back catalogue of United shirts from late 80s onwards for a chimp 🐵

I'll be your personal Chimp Butler for 12 months if you let me have the shirts.

I'll make you Tetley Tea & throw my faeces around - the works.

Yeah but can you swing from a branch with one arm whilst scratching your arse with the other?

T-shirt thread descends to monkey banter...........

Mate of mine went to Chester Zoo last week. Says a monkey was having a shit whilst simultaneously fingerings it's own arse

Went to Chester zoo about 20 years ago and could have spent all day in the chimpanzee house.

One was up near the roof pissing on others below laughing whilst an older one was sat with it's arms folded looking disapprovingly. Another two were chasing each other around whacking each other with sticks.

Nearly as funny as the baboon at Yorkshire Wildlife Park shagging for show.

Everyone was up against the window in the cafe and this baboon thought he'd put on a show. He thought he was a porn star and kept looking at his audience smugly as if he was saying, 'look at me hanging out the back of this bird'

Love gorillas too. One at Twycross looked seriously pissed off with life and everyone up against the fence watching him.

He went inside and came back out with a cardboard box where he sat back down and put the box over his head so nobody could see him.

Love monkeys and primates me.
