True story: Was watching this at my grandparents' house. We went 1-0 down and I decided to go with Nannan to take the dog a walk...

Just realised this was a week before 9/11! I'm sure it was longer than that, certainly seems so looking back.

Just realised this was a week before 9/11! I'm sure it was longer than that, certainly seems so looking back.

And we still nearly f***ed up qualifying in first spot!

Top, top weekend, no digs booked, two out of three of us had match tickets before setting off, train to London Friday, overnight bus to Germany, in Munich for 10.30. Managed to sort a ticket straight off bus at 100dm (WorksopBlade please not note Euros ) and then sorted digs straight off too. Drinking all day and night, all kinds of mayhem near the station early afternoon, then all kinds of mayhem (for the Germans) out on the park in the evening. Going into a bar after the game always remember a German asking the score "5-1 pal", the same bloke very confidently nodding before adding "to Germany", "no pal, to f***ing England and even f***ing Heskey scored".

For me, that day up there with Leicester '90 and Northampton '17.

Really?? How strange. It had about the same impact on me as winning a tenner on the lottery. Nice, but not really worth getting excited about.
