Could not find a thread to start so thought I'd give it a go. Think we are likely to see much the same team as before against Cardiff. Unless of course some of the injured warriors are ready to fly - not likely. So....

Bennett
Walker Morgs Killa Stewart
Little Harper Quinn Treacy
Hendo Evans

Sub: Bunn Cotts Camara France Williamson Fortune Davies

Oops - accidently made it an away game, at least the date is right.

02/11/09 Sheffield United v Newcastle

Well, here we are. It's a lovely crisp Monday morning, I'm off work thanks to the lazy teachers wanting another day doing bugger all and calling it a "training" day. Yeah right, you're just going to be sat on your arses all day, swilling free tea down your necks and scoffing free biscuits. I hope your biccie drops in your brew when you attempt a bit of dunkage.
I've had to use up a day's holiday today because you idle bleeders can't give up one of your 100-ish holiday days to go in to "train", instead it means the parents of thousands of children up and down the country have to either fork out for child care, or use up a day's holiday, and we don't get as many as the bloody teachers, do we?

Anyhow, Newcastle. I hope we beat them sending their fans and their "biggest club in the world, pet" mentality back up to the frozen north with their smug grins wiped off their faces.

I think we will get spanked mightily, although unlike some "fans" I don't hope we lose. I want us to win. The only way I would ever want us to lose would be if we didn't need the points and our losing would knacker Wednesday, and as we do need the points then I want us to win. We probably won't but I've never bet on us to lose and I'm not about to start now.

*EDIT*

Oops, just seen Come From Away's thread, but as it was down as Newcastle v Sheffield United it didn't register. Sorry.:(

It's not 'frozen' up here today, it's quite a pleasant autumn morning!

Harper is a doubt for tonight according to SSN.

I hope you do not let your child(ren) hear your attitude towards teachers. You could become one if you think its so easy.

Try keeping to football.

Sheffield United v Newcastle - Sky Sports 1 (Monday 1945)

Things are starting to unravel for Kevin Blackwell at Bramall Lane and Sheffield United will need to arrest their slump quickly if they are to avoid the upheaval caused by a managerial dismissal midway through the campaign.

The Blades have failed to win any of their last six matches - their worst sequence for 19 months - and Blackwell should be aware that failure to beat Newcastle tonight would leave them with a worse record after 15 games than two seasons ago when Bryan Robson was in charge.

So after rescuing the team from the negativity that materialised during Robbo's short spell at the helm and then guiding them to a play-off final last term, you could say that Blackwell has now come full circle and history would suggest he's hardly the calming influence you want in a crisis.

Habitually emotional with occasional bouts of paranoia, Blackwell regularly confesses to not sleeping at night such is the level of his obsession with the job and his career to date seems to follow the same theme of a bright start followed by an endless stream of excuses at the first sign of a few bad results, leading to a sad-but-inevitable demise.

In fairness, it was always going to be difficult for the Blades to bounce back from their Wembley disappointment and the ensuing loss of Premier League parachute payments, while the injuries have been mounting up in recent weeks.

But, contrary to Blackwell's belief, other managers have to deal with similar scenarios and the better ones tend to cope with a great deal less fuss.

So it's hard to fancy the hosts tonight but you'd be mistaken if you thought we're paving the way for a punt on the Geordies at 6/4.

Bramall Lane is a tough place for any big club to visit, regardless of the circumstances surrounding the game, because it only ever takes one rousing rendition of the 'Chip Butty' song to get the home team fired up to the eyeballs.

Besides, Newcastle are hardly in formidable shape themselves at the minute.

They have laboured in recent weeks and were pretty fortunate to grab their first win in five against Doncaster last weekend.

All of which presents the temptation to sit on the fence and side with the draw, but for one reason: we don't expect this game to be tight and cagey, we fancy goals.

Indeed, it's hard not to fancy goals when you consider that the last eight games involving the Blades have produced 35 of them.

It's a trend that appears to have come about for two reasons: they cannot defend for toffee, but they possess bags of character going forward and never know when they're beaten - not how they have fallen behind in seven of those last eight matches but pulled eight equalisers out of the bag.

So we're going to stake our claim with some degree of confidence on the over 2.5 goals at even money with Coral but the more adventurous might wish to show some imagination in the correct score market.

And there's the point. I can't be there, but I'll be listening. Shake the stands, fans.
Please?

I've just got rid of a load of old programmes, but there was one vintage one that escaped the cull. Us v Newcastle, 1972. Is that an omen?

Sad.

*and I'm getting very annoyed with Keith Edwards - he's really gotten to be a total downer. Just because he's right doesn't MAKE it right to natter on and on and on ad nauseum. Makes me want to smack him.*

With Peterborough playing Newcastle this Saturday  and yourselfs on the 21st  I watched this game with intrest .

It was a foul on Walker before Newcastle got there lucky goal so you can feel you have been hard done by :(

To be fair it should have been 1-1 but for Harper , however I felt you lacked a bit up front but I guess thats because you have so many of your team out at the moment .

At the end it was one of them games but if you keep playing well as you did tonight them you will be climing the table

Chin Up Blades Fans :D

I'll tell my daughter that if she wants a job with more holidays than any other profession bar royalty she should become a teacher. Try giving up one of your holidays for your training.

I am looking forward to Newcastle being promoted so they can get collectively arse-raped by the rest of the Premiership again.
