Yeah, and at the end of the season we’ll have another gap to fill. Great forward planning

I'm embarrassed to be a blade tonight, even through our dark time, I was always proud to be one, but tonight I'm struggling ♥🤔
Looking at the bigger picture, reading the match reports, I can understand exactly what you mean.
Tonight was just another additional issue to an ever increasing condition of negativity.

Could he play the Duffy role? No idea, but maybe worth a try.

Before we start looking at players to play the Duffy role or the JOC role or the Didzy role, maybe we should be looking for owners to play the Abramovich role or a manager to play the Klopp role.

Just a thought.

Are we just relying on one player all season to create and give us a spark in attack?
I guess Ryan One would be expected to make an impact too.
I cannot see any sustained spark coming from Ayew, Bamford, Campbell and Cannon.
They have all had more than enough opportunity to show that they were capable of something better. I am hoping Bamford is just going through a rough patch and might be carrying an injury and that he will dramatically improve after the international break.
My only positive feeling at the moment is a vague hope we might go for Cleary again in January IF the financial side of things is better.
But that hope is offset with the potential loss of Peck, Seriki and Cooper.
We desperately need a goal scorer in the mould of Sharp. None of the aforementioned strikers are that type of player. We do see some good balls played into the 6 yard box but there is no-one anywhere near them so they are not even vaguely a goal threat.

This is the type of player that we should have had more of this last transfer window. Young, Fast, direct, strong and skillful premier league loan. We must get a few more of these players in January if we are too have a 'decent' season. There must be litterally dozens of them sat on their arse right now itching to get out and play regular footy.

If he cant play two games in four days surely you'd rather him start and be ready for Stoke game than a L2 cup game?
Yep.

But he didn’t start against Wolves either so I’m guessing it’s more about giving respect to the opposition again and making ourselves hard to beat v Stoke. That said Wilder mentioned Donovan had played a lot of football so that’s why he came out of the 11 v Wolves… so who knows 😂

Stamp out any danger of creativity before it starts. Sensible management. Can't have the players getting any ideas.

We were well balanced, more creative on the counter v Wolves and defensively solid.

It’s not a dig at Donovan, he suits certain games and it’s a squad game. Wilder did also say that he wanted to bring him on last week before McCallum picked up his injury, albeit after 85 mins but we could possibly have stretched them a bit with Donovan. Instead we went backs to the wall.
