Towards the end of the Stoke game, I was enthusiastically joining in, from the comfort of my sofa, with the travelling Blades chants of “See United and fuck off home, See United and fuck off home…” aimed at the miserable potters fans leaving early, when one of my cats took it upon themselves to suggest that I was singing the wrong lyrics. She suggested that it was “You’ve seen United, now fuck off home; you’ve seen United, now fuck off home…” and whilst not to the heady levels of the Blade on Blade violence witnessed at the Hull semi-final, a heated discussion ensued over which of the lyrics we should be singing.
We do like to join in with the chants as a family, especially when they’re aimed at the opposing supporters - the dog, for example, was going round howling ‘Port Vale away, ole, ole..’ for days afterwards – so can anyone tell me what the correct chant should be, before we all gather round the telly to watch the play-off away leg? Is it ‘See United and fuck off home’ or is it ‘You’ve seen United, now fuck off home’. It’s a terrific little chant and we’d all like to join together in unison, as we’re 3-0 up in the 84th minute, away at Bristol City/Coventry/Middlesborough/Millwall/Blackburn (delete where not applicable).
Yours faithfully
