Originally a member of Falkirk’s youth system, Liverpool saw his qualities and took him to their academy for £50,000 when he was 17. He didn’t make the grade at Merseyside, and returned to Falkirk in 2009 after a good loan spell with Welsh side Wrexham. He enjoyed a successful time north of the border; has split opinion since joining United, but he has been a reliable player.
