OK folks, Game 2 over and done with and congratulations to Pinchy for winning his 3rd competition and trousering £196.

If enough people get their skates on, we'll re-start straight away with the usual £10 entry, 30% of the pot going to Foxy and Linz with the remaining 70% going to the winner.

Game 3 will potentially start on Friday 11th October so entries, plus payment, need to be received by midday Friday.

Paypal details remain the same but please mail [email protected] if you need the link *. If you don't have paypal, please arrange to pay via another member if possible or bank transfer.

* If you have my paypal account details and pay direct, please make sure you select the 'friends and family' option. Every competition, someone doesn't, and paypal take their cut in charges !

Please include your forum name in all correspondence / payments.

RULES

E-mail your weekly selection to [email protected]. Entries must be received by midday on the Friday prior to the weekend games.

1. There is only one initial entry fee, all weekly selections are then free until the end of the competition.
2. You pick ONE team per week, once a particular team is selected, you cannot select that team again for the remainder of the competition.
3. Selections can come from English Premiership, Championship, League 1, League 2 and FA Cup. Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday games are eligible.
4. If your selected game is postponed prior to cut-off on the Friday, another selection should be made. If the game is called off after cut-off, you automatically proceed to the next round.
5. If, in any round, we don't have any winning selections and as such, no 'Last Man Standing', the competition will end and the pot will roll-over into a new competition.
6. In the event of a rollover, the game will be treated as a brand new competition so everything resets and anyone can enter. Entry fees will be split 30/70 as usual with the 70% added to the rollover pot.
7. Every attempt will be made to issue a final selection reminder via the forum on the Friday morning but the responsibility is ultimately down to the entrant and any selections received after cut-off will not be valid and you will be out of the competition.
8. All e-mails/payment details will be saved until after the competition has ended in case of any dispute.
9. The Organiser’s decision is final.

Couple of questions from a LMS virgin (apologies for any ignorance on my part)...

1) Why is specifically 70% of the pot available as winnings?
2) Wouldn't rule 4 be fairer if, after having their pick be postponed after the cut off, the next game week the player then has to pick two winners from the fixture list not just the one? That way they will have picked as many winners to proceed as anybody else.

All virgins welcome :)

When Brownie kicked this off back in the day, it was just a fun way of making a donation to the running of the site, 70% was just a random figure we agreed, via a poll I seem to remember.
Could be wrong but I think the postponement rule might only have come into play once. Every attempt is made for people to find a replacement (even after cut-off if possible) but you could also argue that it is not their fault the game was postponed at the last minute and why should they have to make an extra 'pick'.

We're always open to rule changes so feel free to suggest anything :)

Good points ..... from what I believe is: 1. 70% winnings with 30% (correctly and brilliantly so) goes to the website guys to keep this forum etc as great as it is....... 2. I like the idea here, I don't think it would happen very often having a game called off pre 12 o clock Friday ..... but say if it was called off at 1155am and you was at work - I think these guys would use a bit of common sense..........................
I absolutely love it and got down to the final 4 last time - my only advice - NEVER PICK SUNDERLAND!

I just thought that for example if it came down to the final two players and one of them had received a bye in a prior GW thanks to a last minute postponement then they would made it to the final with one fewer predictions than their opponent. If they then won the final GW, weirdly only then would he/she have the same amount of successful predictions as their eliminated opponent.

Seems a little unfair to me and I'm sure whoever was on the receiving end of that might be a little bit peeved.

It's possible, and yes, under those circumstances the person on the receiving end might be a bit pissed off but it's also their fault ultimately for picking a losing selection :)

As I say, in 14 competitions covering almost 900 predictions, I can only remember anyone progressing via a postponement once maybe twice.

Non virgin here ,but not a slag ,if someone enters all 14 games and doesn't win ,shouldn't everyone choose Bolton and let him win ?
Maybe we should have a one-off consolation LMS between you, Tray and Foxy :) Tray tells me he's got a good feeling about it this time, although he may have said that once or twice before ;)

The "Always the Bridesmaid" Cup. I'm here for that :D

You know me, ever the optimist. I once said we don't need to sign a striker as Shaun Miller and Diego De Girolamo would get us promoted :tumbleweed:

It looks a tough one this week, I can see many missing the mark, including myself.
