Hello again, I have posted on here before about games vs Preston and I am again today. We come into this game on a slightly bad run. The problem with us this season is that we haven’t scored enough goals, with just a few more important goals we would be top 4/5 and that is the truth. We also struggle at home vs poor sides, draws vs Milwall, Barnsley, Brum, Sunderland and others. However, obviously we are punching above our weight similar to yourselves, given the money we have both spent compared to other teams. It is refreshing to see that it is possible to succeed despite not blowing a fortune ( Wednesday, Brum, Reading ) being examples of how it can go tits up.

As for yourselves after a great start you aren’t on the best run recently. Having yourselves not won against sides who park the bus, Bolton, Brum, Wednesday etc. However, James Wilson and Evans are terrific additions at little cost. Even though Norwich aren’t what they used to be a win down there is still commendable. A few north end fans fancy their chances, given that our best XI’s aren’t too different in terms of quality on paper. However, myself I am not too confident as we have had a few injuries and really are struggling to put the ball in the net on a regular basis.

Regardless, it should be an exciting game as we always try and take the game to our opponents, especially away from home and yourselves are a very attacking side. You should be looking at 2,000 ish away fans from sales so far ( hopefully a bit more), good luck for the season ( apart from sat obviously).

Alright mate, I have noticed your goal scoring issues myself when watching on sky. Clearly, with your budget you are similar to us in terms of overachievement. It would be good to see both of us in the playoffs.

Really like the look of your squad this season. Like us, you seem to be getting good value for money and are making smart signings.

Rate your attacking players in order, from 1 to 5. Thank you.

I hope that Preston underestimate us. Down at your place we were truly truly awful. The worst thing is you were “ok” which got you the win.

It’s a game I want us to win to prove it was just a one-off in that game. From what I remember all your play goes through Hugill long balls to wing and then you play from there. It was very effective to be honest.

I’m hoping he’s rested or sold haha.

Should be a good game and as you say two teams that aren’t big spenders so may the best team win.

Thanks Stanneswhite, with nothing really to lose- and let's be honest neither of us would have picked each other as 4th round opponents- it should hopefully be an open game with both teams going for it.

Do you think you'll play a full strength side or rest a few? Although you're in with a shout of the play offs, midtable seems to be your more likely finishing spot, so may as well play your best side?

We will rest a few. I don’t think we will get playoffs but they are definitely feasible once players come back from injury if we can get scoring. We will most likely miss about as we don’t have enough quality to beat teams who park the bus against us at times.

This is a nice summary of both teams but don’t read too much into how we play on Saturday - we are likely to make 8/9 changes with Aston Villa on the Tuesday after the game in mind.

I went to Deepdale and our midfield was decimated then too. Probably one of our worst performances of the season but there were mitigating circumstances.

I think you are a solid team, but lack flair (which is essentially what you’ve said). Will you make many changes for our FA cup game?

I seriously doubt we will play anything in like our first choice side (nor should we) and most of our new recruits are cup tied.

If we win it is a bonus, if we don’t I won’t lose too much sleep about it with Villa to come the following Tuesday. The FA Cup is down the priority list these days.

Maguire ( injured)
Hugill
Robinson
Harrop
Barkuizen

Maguire was one I wanted us to have a punt on. Low risk, potential high reward, as you're finding out. Scored loads in Ireland and seems to have taken to the Championship very well. Must be one of the signings of the season.

Not an attacking player but I rate Ben Pearson too, clearly a very good defensive midfielder and up there with the best in the league.

As for the game, it'll be a draw - we must be due to go to Deepdale again...

Our midfield is outstanding when Pearson and Johnson play together. However due to injuries, suspensions we haven’t been able to do that. You are right about us lacking flair, with even a little bit we would be top 6 at this point. At Fulham we conceded a 97th minute equaliser too after bottling a lead.

In terms of changes, Moult will probably play. I’d imagine that Pearson and Hugill will be rested. However, we don’t have a squad to make 8/9 changes so don’t be expecting that. I’d imagine us to make 6 ish changes and the 11 won’t be our strongest at all, but not a b team or anything. Although obviously, a handful will be.

You should have done, Maguire is outstanding. It was when he got injured that we dropped out of the top 6 and haven’t got back in yet. He is the flair that our solid side needs.

Regarding Pearson, he is our best player. Only Cunningham comes close. When he goes he will go to a premier league side for big money.

If you could delete this thread please. Roy will be along shortly with his pre match view, well unless the selfish bastard has gone on the piss again.

I know, I mean what the fuck are we paying him for? Oh, hang on......................

Oh and Daniel Johnson. Wanted us to get him for 50 grand in January 2015 but Clough knew better. The club were still in retard mode back then.

Him and Pearson would seem like a good combination.

Our peformance at Preston is the worst I’ve seen us play this season. Preston out worked and out fought us. Hugil was a handful all game.
Although probably will be changes on both sides, hopefully we will play much better

Its a cup game it ain't that important . smallish crowd what Preston are used to. How they can compare themselves to us is a joke we get double there home gates and take much more away. I've actually been to deepdale with an attendance of just over 4000

For those interested, I’d imagine our side would be something like ( although this will be difficult to guess)
Rudd
Clarke Huntington Davies Earl
Johnson Browne
Bodin Harrop Robinson
Moult

Which would be 5 players changed. If possible, Davies would be rested however due to injuries that may be difficult.

2000 away fans ? That’s a good effort.

Playing Preston is like noticing there's no nuts in your shit

Looking forward to having a look at Moult and Bodin. They were another two possibles for us.

On another topic, first time I’ve gone by coach to the lane, only ever driven straight there for 3. So what nice places are there to eat in Sheffield City Centre?

There's every restaurant every other city has, and there'll be a Wetherspoon every twenty feet of your life.

On C5 last night they were saying that Preston were draw specialists. I could see it being a draw this Saturday even though neither side could do with a replay.
