I was out on Carver Street at one o'clock this morning when I bumped into four of our first team. I bet most of you can guess a couple straight away. Yes, McGahey and Adams were there, along with Woolford and Sharp.
Now I'm no killjoy, however I have certain reservations about the sense of this. Our season had just ended that day, but it doesn't seem to mean enough to our players, for it to interfere with their more important need to party. With the amount of disappointment around, about how this season has turned out and the current bad feeling towards the majority of our current team, was this a sensible move ?. Should Adkins not be advising players about public perception, or is this just another example of his lack of discipline and the players lack of respect for Adkins, fans and the club. Do Adkins and the players never learn. There was the night out earlier in the season involving McGahey and Adams, when they turned up the worse for wear at training the next day, not to mention the Christamas party club trip to Dublin fiasco, involving Baxter. Only last week there ware the alleged comments made by Basham about Adkins, while again the worse for wear.
I
know it was the awards evening after the game yesterday, but with Adkins insisting the play offs are still a possibility, having the players in for training on Sunday would have been more productive than sanctioning a night on the lash. Not exactly good preparation for the next game at Chesterfield, however I suppose in the case of Woolford and McGahey they are unlikely to be involved, so there's no problem them spending the several thousands a week Utd pay them for their services, as they should choose to do so.The players should concentrate on improving as players, giving their all for the last few games, rather than acting as big time charlies whenever they can. Its not a lot to ask, the seasons nearly over and then they can all go off on their holidays for several months.
I'm curious to see if anyone else saw the players as well and if anyone thinks I'm being too harsh

Awards evening=day off...I see it as a good sign that Billy and Che were out together..considering age difference...day off Sunday...work hard all week for next game, 'bonding' whilst spending the night talking about football/women/beer/Sufc ..probably..

It used to be more of a normal side to the game, but it isn't now. The modern game is littered with athletic professionals that are aided by technology and a more rounded knowledge of fitness. Which is why if you do it these days, you'll find that you'll pretty soon get left behind. Not that we hadn't been left behind already.

Was Billy supping ale out of all his award trophies? Because no other fucker has deserved one.

...once again, does that actually make any sense at all?

You're suggesting that no other L1 players go out for a beer? ( or Prem players for that matter )

Seen players from Boro, Hull and Bradford out in the Leeds in recent months. One or two a bit excitable but mostly lads of that age enjoying the craic.

All seem to be having decent seasons as well.

I'm a bit old for Carver Street now, strictly Forum if i'm back in Sheffield. But I always used to see Stephen Quinn out, once pissed him off by saying "Fuck me you're a small bastard" when I was smashed in Crystal Bar a few years back. I then proclaimed Hull was a shithole and he'd be back, he laughed and ran off quite quickly. Thing is these players are human, let them have fun. PL players go out, it's our culture, I don't see it as a detriment.

I hate players who go out and think they've made it, and give it the big I AM with their bottles of Grey Goose, a few Rotherham players and Wednesday players loved that attention, not seen any of ours with that attitude. Actually, no I saw Lee Hendrie pissing on a dancefloor in Vodka Revs when he was with us, but he was always a twat.

They're young men who have a stressful job. A well paid, incredibly fun job with lots of perks, fame and the rest, but still a job with lots of stress and pressure to boot. Let 'em have a beer and a laugh, they deserve it.
Gee' or wi ya man. Fucking hell if they deserve to go out on the piss I deserve to shag Vera Farmiga at least twice.

That's probably the nicest thing anyone has ever said about Hendrie.

Hang em!

FFS.

Once saw an Interview with Fred Trueman when he was criticised for having a pint in the bar after a day's test cricket, he said.

" I'm a working man who's just done a days graft, why shouldn't I have a pint?"

No problem at all with our players going out for a beer on a Saturday night after a decent performance

As someone who gave up the beer a while ago, I'm outraged by this in the same way ex-smokers are rwaaarr.

Couldn't give a shit about them being out on the lash.

The season is over now, and hopefully many of them will be out of a job come July.

If we were up at the top or battling it out ion the playoffs, then fair enuff. But it's probably a goodbye to Billy and Ched as their undisclosed have already been agreed by McCabe and they are offski pretty soon.
